SHIPPENVILLE A state-record setting performance by Brockways Derek Buganza earns the Rover sophomore the fourth RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.Com District 9 Football Player of the Week for the 2009 season. Buganza, who earns the award for the second time this year, set the state record for passing yards in a game with 594 while going 33 of 45 and tossing six touchdowns and two interceptions in a 74-28 win over Otto-Eldred Friday night. Buganza threw for over 300 yards in the first half while helping the Rovers (3-1) to a 28-21 halftime lead thanks to a touchdown with four seconds left in the half. Brockway then outscored the Terrors 46-7 in the second half with Buganza throwing his final touchdown pass 30 seconds into the fourth quarter. The previous passing yards record in Pennsylvania was 511 by Downingtown Easts Pat Devlin. Four of Buganzas touchdown passes and nine of his passes in all for 175 yards went to Mike Vervoort, who is joined on the RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.com Honor Roll by 15 additional players who had superb performances in District 9 this past week.
