BROOKVILLE
– Matt Watson caught an 8-yard touchdown pass in double overtime from Ty
Warner to give Bellefonte a 40-34 win over the homestanding Raiders Friday
night.
Brookville
(0-2) forced overtime when Ethan Harmon scored from two yards out and
Garrett Weaver added the two-point conversion run with 3:03 left in
regulation to tie the game at 28.
The Blue
Raiders then got the ball first in overtime and scored on an 8-yard pass
from Tyler Dombrowski to Josh Frondeck to take a 34-28 lead before Warner
hit Zach Tressler with a 2-yard scoring pass on Bellefonte’s possession of
the first overtime. Neither team was able to take on the conversion thus
forcing the second extra session.
Brookville
still had a chance to either tie or win the game in the second overtime
following Watson’s touchdown catch, but the Bellefonte defense stopped the
Raiders ending the game.
The Blue
Raiders led 14-0 early in the second quarter following a 56-yard touchdown
pass from Tyler Dombrowski to Dustin Dombrowski and a 30-yard scoring toss
from Weaver to Taylor Heinrich in the first 2:06 of the frame.
But
Bellefonte got in the game thanks to an 80-yard kickoff return for a
touchdown by Malkik Breon following the Heinrich touchdown, and the Red
Raiders tied the score at 14 at halftime when Warner, who threw four
touchdown passes on the night, hit Torin Miller with 15-yard strike with
40 seconds left in the half.
Bellefonte
then took its first lead of the game, 21-14, on a 4-yard Travis Stubble
run midway through the third quarter before Weaver’s 2-yard scoring run on
the final play of the third quarter closed the Brookville gap to one at
21-20.
But Warner
hit Watson with a 70-yard scoring strike early in the fourth quarter to
put the Red Raiders ahead 28-20.
Warner was
6 of 13 passing for 121 yards and the four touchdowns with Watson catching
two passes for 78 yards and two scores. Struble led the ground game with
65 yards on 16 carries.
Kyle
Galbraith ran for 101 yards on 17 carries for Brookville with Harmon
chipping in 67 yards on 16 totes. Tyler Dombrowski was 6 of 14 passing for
