Courier-Express KNOX – Dylan Ziegler’s 21-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference in a 24-21 Keystone win over visiting Redbank Valley Friday night. Ziegler’s kick came after Keystone’s Dan Reed intercepted a pass by Redbank Valley’s Shiloh Buchleitner on the last play of the third quarter and proved to be the final points of the contest. Reed had a big night for Keystone rushing for three touchdowns in addition to his interception while combing for 275 yards of offense. He rushed 27 times for 150 yards and was 11 of 22 passing for 125 yards and an interception. That helped the Panthers (2-0 overall, 2-0 KSAC) outgain Redbank Valley (1-1, 1-1) 327 yards to 186. After a scoreless first quarter, Redbank Valley led 14-13 at halftime thanks to touchdown runs by Shiloh Buchleitner and Curtis Lee 1:23 apart late in the half. Keystone led 7-0 following a Reed 3-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter before Buchleitner, who ran for 48 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries while going 4 of 13 passing for 85 yards and the interception, tied the game on a 1-yard run with 3:59 to go before the half. Redbank Valley then got the ball back and went up 14-7 on Lee’s 5-yard scoring run with 2:36 to play before Reed cut the deficit to 14-13 with a 35-yard scoring run with 51 seconds to play in the half. The extra point was no good. Keystone then retook the lead midway through the third quarter when Reed plunged in from a yard out and then found Brett Zuck with a 2-point conversion pass to make it 21-14 Panthers. But Redbank Valley had the answer 1:02 later when Buchleitner scored on a 5-yard run that combined with Brandon Bain’s third PAT knotted the score at 21. Zach Smith added 52 yards rushing on 16 carries for Keystone, while Zuck had four catches for 73 yards. Zach Dubia added five catches for 95 yards for Redbank Valley. NOTES – Keystone’s win snapped a seven-game win streak by Redbank Valley over the Panthers and marked just the third time in the last 20 years the Panthers have topped the Bulldogs … Redbank Valley now leads the series vs. Keystone 36-9. The Bulldogs are also 46-10 all-time vs. either Keystone or Knox High Schools, which became the main part of the Keystone School District.
