ST. MARYS – The St. Marys Flying Dutchmen used a strong defensive effort and took advantage of four Lewistown turnovers en route to a 25-0 shutout of the Panthers Friday at Dutch Country Stadium in St. Marys.

St. Marys (2-0 overall, 1-0 MAC-Nittany) used a fumble recovery and an interception to set up two of their three score in the first half, and all-state linebacker Sean Sadosky returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.

Junior fullback Kevin Hoy led the ground assault for the second straight week carrying the ball 13 times for 79 yards and two touchdowns. Kyle Schneider, returning after limited action in Week One because of an ankle injury, added 12 carries for 51 yards and a score.

For Lewistown (0-2, 0-1), Kirby Moist rushed for 46 yards on 11 carries and Kody Stein added 50 yards on seven totes. The Panthers used four quarterbacks in the game with limited success going 1 of 14 for eight yards and two interceptions.  

St. Marys returns to action at 7 p.m. Friday when its hosts Bald Eagle Area.

GAME NOTES – St. Marys outgained Lewistown 261-135 … Lewistown was forced to punt nine time … St. Marys committed only one penalty on the night after going penalty free in Week One … The Dutch did commit three turnovers but still ended up a plus-1 in the turnover category for the night.
