NEW BETHLEHEM – After a tough 24-21 loss to Keystone in Week 2, the Redbank Valley Bulldogs picked up a much needed win with a 28-0 victory over Union Friday night.

"I thought it was a good football game", said Redbank coach Brandon Rapp.  "We have played in three games this year, and all of them have been good football games."

Redbank (2-1 overall, 2-1 KSAC) outgained Union 393-81 in total offense.

The only score in the first half came in the second quarter when Redbank quarterback Shiloh Buchleitner connected on a 60-yard touchdown pass to Zach Dubia for a 7-0 lead at the half.

Union (1-2 overall, 1-2 KSAC) had a chance to get something going midway through the second quarter when, from its own 18-yard line and facing a fourth-and-15, Zach Traister faked a punt and scrambled 42 yards.  But the play was called back on an illegal block, and Union punted on the next play.

"It was a vital part of the game,” said Union coach Al Pryor. "We still had other opportunities, and we did not take advantage of them."

Redbank extended its lead to 14-0 four minutes into the third quarter on a beautiful 54-yard pass from Brandon Bain to Keaton Truitt.

The lead stayed that way until early in the fourth quarter, as Bain found Nolan Sovik in the back corner of the end zone to extend the lead to 21-0.

Caleb Delp capped off the scoring for Redbank with just a little over five minutes remaining in the game with a 3-yard touchdown run.

Redbank had a hard time holding on to the pigskin, as the Bulldogs fumbled the ball seven times resulting in six turnovers.

"Turnovers are killing us,” Rapp said. “We have to stop it."

Redbank was led by Buchleitner who accounted for 138 yards of total offense (68 passing and 70 yards rushing). Brandon Bain chipped in with 103 yards passing and two touchdowns through the air.

Union was led by Zach Traister, who had 93 yards on 15 carries.

Both teams will be back in action next week as Union will host Keystone and Redbank will entertain Brookville.
