NEW BETHLEHEM – Ethan Harmon’s 6-yard run and quarterback Tyler Dombrowski’s two-point conversion run with the game on the line lifted the Brookville Raiders to a 22-21 overtime win at Redbank Valley Friday night.

The Raiders trailed 21-14 after Redbank Valley scored on Pat Goheen’s second touchdown of the game on a 4-yard run in the first possession of overtime. Brandon Bain kicked the extra point to put the Bulldogs up seven.

But the Raiders weren’t satisfied with settling for a potential tying point-after kick to send it into a second overtime. Instead, they went for two and Dombrowski, after not finding an open man in the end zone, scrambled up the middle and scored standing to end the game.

Avenging last year’s 19-13 overtime loss at home to the Bulldogs, the Raiders notched their first win on the field — they had to forfeit Week 1’s win over Union — and improved to 1-3. Redbank Valley fell to 2-2.

Brookville led 14-0 before Redbank Valley scored. The Raiders scored on their second possession of the game on Ethan Harmon’s 12-yard run with 4:16 left in the first quarter. They made it 14-0 when Josh Frondek’s fumble recovery of a Caleb Delp fumble at the Bulldogs’ 32 turned into eight more points when Kyle Galbraith scored on a 1-yard run with 26.5 seconds left in the first half.

But that wasn’t it for the first-half scoring as the Bulldogs needed just three plays starting from their own 41 following the ensuing kickoff to score with 2.1 seconds when Bain connected with receiver Zach Dubia in the front right corner of the end zone.

Down 14-7 at the half, the Bulldogs tied it in the fourth quarter when Goheen scored on a 16-yard run, capping a short three-play, 36-yard drive with 6:27 left in regulation.

The Bulldogs and Raiders each had one more serious scoring threat before overtime. The Raiders were stopped on downs at the Bulldogs’ 24 with 1:25 left. Redbank Valley went 44 yards on four plays to give it the ball at the Raiders’ 32 with 29.5 seconds left. Brookville’s defense ensured extra time by pressuring Bain twice on the final two plays of regulation, including a sack by Galbraith.

Redbank Valley outgained Brookville, 322-224, but had a slew of problems snapping the ball, mostly in the second half — eight fumbles, three of them lost, and a Bain interception in the first half in the red zone — all of them costly, especially in an overtime game.

Goheen rushed for 88 yards on 11 carries, all of them coming in the second half. Bain completed 8 of 13 passes for 140 yards. Shiloh Buchleitner caught four passes for 53 yards and rushed for 14 yards on nine carries.

Harmon led the Raiders with 61 yards rushing on 15 carries. Jared Heschke caught four passes for 60 yards.
