EMPORIUM – Jason Blose’s big night led Cameron County to its sixth win of the season 42-14 win against visiting Otto-Eldred Friday night.

Blose accounted for 237 yards of total offense and four touchdowns for the Red Raiders (6-0 Overall, 6-0 AML North) who took control of the game early and never looked back.

Cameron Country’s defense was stout as well limiting Otto-Eldred (1-5, 1-5) to just 87 yards of total offense including just 41 yards by standout running back Drew Coscia.

“Our defense is pretty stout, and they flow to the ball really well,” Cameron County head coach John Fragale said.  “Coscia is one of those slashing type guys, and he makes a lot of people miss. We were worried about him because he is a good ball player, but we contained him quite well tonight.”

The Red Raiders came out throwing the ball early, as Blose connected with Vince Summers and Ryan Grimm to move the ball down to the Terror 37-yard line.  Cameron County then came up with the first of many big plays on the night when Blose found Grimm down the middle for a 37-yard touchdown pass that made it 7-0 less then three minutes into the game.

Andy Lippert forced a fumble on the Terrors first possession which he recovered and took 30 yards for a touchdown to make it 14-0.

After an Otto punt, Blose went to work through the air again.  On the third play of the drive he found Summers up the left sideline for a 43-yard touchdown that, coupled with a successful 2-point conversion, gave the Red Raiders a convincing 22-0 lead with 3:48 to play in the first quarter.

“We haven’t passed the ball a lot,” Fragale said.  “I figured Otto would stack the line of scrimmage early, and we wanted to back them up a bit. It was working early so we stuck with it and put some points on the board.”

Blose went to work on the ground on Cameron County’s ensuing offensive possession.  After a 7-yard run by Lippert, he took a broken play and took off down the sideline 38 yards for a touchdown making it 29-0.

“Jason is the type of kid who can explode at any time,” said Fragale.  “I told Jason to keep his eyes open tonight because I figured he could get some yardage. He kept his head up and made some good decisions out there.”

Blose hooked up again with Grimm midway through the second quarter to make it 36-0.

Lippert scored from a yard out as time expired in the first half, making it 42-0.

The Mercy Rule took effect at the start of the second half, and many of the Cameron County JV’s were able to make their way onto the field.

Coscia found daylight late in the third quarter and raced in to the end zone from 13 yards out to make it 42-7, and Cody Hauber tacked on on a 1-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter for the Terrors.

Things get interesting for the Red Raiders next Saturday, as they travel to Port Allegany for a showdown with the second-place Gators.

“Port Allegany has got a heck of a ball club,” Fragale said.  “They are a lot like us. They put points on the board and play good, solid defense.  It’s going to be one of those rock’em-, sock’em-type football games. We are just going to line up and see what happens.”
