CURWENSVILLE – Jed Greslick ran for two touchdowns and Sam Gardner threw for a pair of scores to lead top-seeded Curwensville to a 30-8 win over eighth-seeded Redbank Valley in the opening round of the District 9 Class A playoffs Friday night at Curwensville.

Greslick, who ran for 169 yards on 30 carries, scored on second-quarter runs of 8 and 3 yards to give the Golden Tide (9-2) a 15-0 halftime lead.

Gardner then hit Kyle Barrett with a 60-yard touchdown pass and Shea Best with a 36-yard scoring pass in the third quarter to extend the lead to 30-0.

Redbank Valley’s lone score came early in the fourth quarter on a 24-yard Brandon Bain to Keaton Truitt touchdown pass.

Curwensville, which will face fourth-seeded Coudersport in the semifinals, outgained Redbank Valley 359 yards to 166 including 263 to 3 on the ground.

Gardner was 2 of 7 passing for 96 yards and two scores and a pick while also rushing for 13 yards. Alex Holland added 84 yards rushing for the Golden Tide.

Bain paced Redbank Valley (3-7) going 8 of 20 passing for 163 yards, one touchdown and an interception. Truitt had two grabs for 79 yards.
