EDINBORO – Erie McDowell scored six touchdowns in the first half, including two on blocked punt returns, as the Trojans routed DuBois, 49-13 in a District 6-8-9-10 Sub-Region semifinal game at Edinboro University Saturday afternoon.

Colin Putnam and John Dalstrand returned the blocked punts for 31 and 45 yards respectively in the first and second quarters. Quarterback Zach Greenawalt scored twice in the first quarter on runs of 54 and 5 yards while Greg Garmon scored the first of his two TDs on a 72-yard pass from Greenawalt to put the score at 42-0.

With the PIAA Mercy Rule running clock set into motion to start the second half, the Beavers scored twice on Derek Clark’s 4-yard pass from Sean Sleigh in the third quarter and Sleigh’s 3-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Garmon scored on a 48-yard run for the Trojans’ only score in the second half. Garmon led all rushers with 116 yards on only five carries. Greenawalt rushed for 91 yards on seven attempts as McDowell outgained the Beavers 424-211.

DuBois finished the year at 5-6 while McDowell (8-2) advances to the sub-regional finals in DuBois on Saturday, Nov. 21 against State College (9-2), which routed Central Mountain Friday night, 42-17.
