JOHNSONBURG 28, RIDGWAY 12

RIDGWAY – Andrew Nortum ran for two touchdowns and threw for a third to lead Johnsonburg to a 28-12 win at Ridgway Friday night.

Nortum gained 34 yards on 11 carries and scored on runs of 47 yards and 11 yards (sack yardage brought his total down) and was 11 of 18 passing for 124 yards and a touchdown.

Johnsonburg (3-2 overall, 3-2 AML South) led 14-6 at halftime before breaking the game open by scoring twice in a span of 19 seconds in the fourth quarter.

Nortum hit Matt Shuey (four catches, 17 yards) with a 5-yard touchdown pass to make it 20-6 with 11:06 left in the game, and moments later Jesse Wolfe picked off a Jordan Lundin pass and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown and a 28-6 lead.

PORT ALLEGANY 34, SMETHPORT 0

SMETHPORT – Matt Bodamer threw two touchdowns and ran for a third to lead Port Allegany to a 34-0 win at Smethport Friday night.

Matt Bodamer, who was 3 of 5 passing for 80 yards and also rushed 13 times for 63, threw scoring passes of 18 yards to Ryan Bodamer and 60 yards to Lucas Kline while also scoring on a 1-yard run. Ryan Bodamer also added a 34-yard fumble return for a score and finished the game with 15 tackles and 45 yards rushing on 14 carries, while Camrin Stuckey rushed three times for 100 yards including a 68-yard touchdown run.

Port Allegany moved to 4-1 overall, 4-1 AML North with the win while Smethport fell to 0-5, 0-5.

KARNS CITY 60, KEYSTONE 35

KARNS CITY – Defense was optional Friday night in Karns City, as the Gremlins and Keystone combined for 824 yards of total offense with Karns City racking up 495 of those in a 60-35 win the visiting Panthers.

Karns City (5-0, 5-0 KSAC) led 25-7 at halftime and 46-21 at the end of the third quarter.

Seven different Karns City players reached the end zone led by two scores apiece from Joe Fallecker and J.R. Yough. Fallecker ended the night with four catches for 134 yards and two scores, while Yough had two carries for 60 yards and a touchdown and also returned a fumble 25 yards for a score. Dylan Hipple added a 7-for-9 night passing for 148 yards, one touchdown and one interception and added seven carries for 39 yards and a touchdown. Aaron Markle added 14 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown and was 1-for-1 passing for 30 yards and a touchdown.

Dan Reed threw for 322 yards and five touchdowns while going 13 of 21 passing with two picks for Keystone (3-2, 3-2). Ben Marchand had seven catches for 147 yards and three touchdowns, while Brett Zuck caught four passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Keystone was limited to seven rushing yards on 23 carries, while Karns City rushed for 294 on 45 totes.

The 35 points were the most Karns City has allowed in its history in a game in which it won.

MONITEAU 25, UNION 0

WEST SUNBURY – James Shope ran for two touchdowns and Kyle Armagost ran for a score and threw for a score to lift Moniteau to a 25-0 win over visiting Union Friday night.

Shope ran for 172 yards on 15 carries, while Armagost was 8 of 14 passing for 121 yards and threw an interception. He also ran 17 times for 72 yards.

Union was limited to 73 total yards including just one yard rushing on 23 carries. Trent Corle led the Golden Knights (1-4, 1-4) going 9 of 26 passing for 72 yards and an interception. Zach Traister had five catches for 27 yards and ran seven times for 14 yards.

BRADFORD 14, MEADVILLE 0

MEADVILLE - Bradford turned to its defense to secure its fifth win of the season in five tries getting a hard-fought 14-0 road win at Meadville Friday night.

The Owls defense limited Meadville (1-4) to 206 yards of offense, and Pat Pascarella intercepted a Meadville pass with just over a minute to play and the Owls holding a 7-0 lead.

Pascarella gave Bradford a 7-0 lead at halftime on a 25-yard touchdown run midway through the second quarter, and Mark Havers tacked on a 40-yard touchdown run to ice the game following Pascarella’s interception.

Cody Coats combined for 138 yards of total offense to lead the Owls.

CENTRAL MOUNTAIN 21, DUBOIS 7

MILL HALL – DuBois was limited to 130 yards of total offense in a 21-7 loss at Central Mountain Friday night.

The Beavers (3-2 overall, 1-1 MAC-7 Mts.) trailed 8-0 at halftime and went down 14-0 on the first play of the fourth quarter before getting back into the game with 7:39 to play when Josh Means hit Cam Kelly with a 47-yard touchdown pass.

But Central Mountain (3-2, 1-0) came right back 59 seconds later on a 64-yard touchdown run by Scott Zuback, his second scoring run of the game.

Means was just 3 of 16 passing for 60 yards, the touchdown and two interceptions while also rushing 20 times for 38 yards. Kelly had two catches for 50 yards and ran seven times for 11 yards. Braden Bish picked off two passes for the Beavers.

CURWENSVILLE 32, BROCKWAY 19

CURWENSVILLE – A week after setting the state passing record, Brockway’s Derek Buganza was basically shutdown by Curwensville’s defense on a rainy night in Curwensville, as the Tide got a key 32-19 AML South win over the visiting Rovers.

Buganza, who threw for nearly 600 yards in a win over Otto-Eldred last week, was limited to a career-low 160 yards passing on 14 of 27 while rushing seven times for 15 yards and a score. He threw one touchdown and one interception. Buganza entered the game averaging 379.5 yards per game through the air.

Curwensville, meanwhile, used a strong running game to get the victory. The Golden Tide (3-2 overall, 3-2 AML South) ran 60 times for 350 yards and five touchdowns. Alex Holland ran 24 times for 128 yards and two scores, while Jed Greslick had 20 carries for 117 yards and two scores. Sam Gardner chipped in with 11 totes for 99 yards and one touchdown.

Ryan Terwilliger scored twice for Brockway (3-2, 3-2) including once rushing and once receiving. He had 14 carries for 74 yards and three catches for 13 yards.  

CLEARFIELD 35, LEWISTOWN 14

CLEARFIELD – Derek Morgan ran for 153 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries to lead Clearfield to a 35-14 win over visiting Lewistown in Mountain Athletic Conference-Nittany Division action Friday night in Clearfield.

Morgan scored on runs of 2, 3 and 59 yards, while Trey Campman caught an 11-yard scoring pass from Curtis Frye while also returning an interception 24 yards for the Bisons (3-2 overall, 2-1 MAC-NL) final touchdown. Campman had just one catch for 11 yards, while Frye was 4 of 9 passing for 43 yards. Morgan added one completion on one attempt that went for 10 yards and also caught a pass for 11 yards. Frye did rush for 52 yards on 14 carries.

Lewistown is now 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference with the loss.  

CAMERON COUNTY 14, COUDERSPORT 7

COUDERSPORT — Jason Blose's 11-yard pass to Vince Summers with 7:20 left in the first half lifted the Cameron County Red Raiders to a 14-7 win at Coudersport Friday night.

It was the third straight win over the Falcons for the Red Raiders, who improved to 5-0. Coudersport, meanwhile, fell to 3-2 and its chances at an Allegheny Mountain League North Division title are now remote. Port Allegany (4-1) now stands in second place behind the Red Raiders.

Cameron's Andy Lippert rushed for 125 yards on 18 carries and scored the Red Raiders' first touchdown on a 73-yard run in the first quarter. About three minutes later, Coudersport's Dirk Cowburn scored on a 26-yard run to tie the game at 7-7. Cowburn led the Falcons with 71 yards on 14 carries.

Blose completed 4 of 5 passes for 34 yards. Cameron outgained Coudersport, 201-166. The Falcons committed three turnovers to Cameron's one.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 40, A-C VALLEY 0

PUNXSUTAWNEY – Logan Weaver threw four touchdowns passes in the first half helping Punxsutawney get an easy 40-0 win over visiting A-C Valley Friday night handing the Falcons there 36th straight loss.

All 40 of the Chucks’ points came in the first half, as Weaver threw scoring passes of 16 yards to Zak Dickey, 24 yards to Ben Blazavich, 22 yards to Doug Dale and 45 yards to Braedon Pennington. Blazavich also added a 43-yard scoring run, and Brennan Niver scored on a 9-yard run.

The win was the third straight for Punxsutawney (3-2 overall, 3-1 KSAC), while A-C Valley dropped to 0-5 on the year with all the losses coming in the conference.
