PORT ALLEGANY 44, OTTO-ELDRED 6 PORT ALLEGANY – Matt Bodamer
combined to rush and pass for 296 yards and scored five
total touchdowns – four on offense – to lead Port
Allegany to a 44-6 win over visiting Otto-Eldred in AML
North action Saturday afternoon. Bodamer was 8 of 12 passing for 213
yards, three touchdowns and an interception, ran five
times for 83 yards and a score and returned an
interception 50 yards for a touchdown. Camrin Stuckey caught two of the
touchdown passes and had three catches for 72 yards,
while Charlie Buchanan added a 77-yard touchdown catch
and ended with three grabs for 104 yards. Zach Ramadhan
added a 1-yard touchdown run and Kenny Kysor kicked a
44-yard field goal for the Gators (2-3 overall, 2-3 AML
North), who broke a 3-game losing streak. Seth Lowery
chipped in 102 yards rushing on just 12 carries. Otto-Eldred (0-5, 0-5) got 146
yards rushing and a 13-yard touchdown run from Luke
Kerr, who toted the ball 31 times.
CLEARFIELD 42, CENTRAL MOUNTAIN 14 CLEARFIELD – Curtis Frye scored on
four 1-yard touchdown runs to lift unbeaten Clearfield
to a 42-14 win over visiting Central Mountain Friday
night. Frye ran for just 31 yards on 10
carries but was at his best in the short-yardage
situations at the goal line helping the Bisons improve
to 5-0 overall, 2-0 in the Mountain League Allegheny
Division. The junior quarterback also 5 of 8 passing for
107 yards and an interception. Derek Morgan added 14 carries for
75 yards and a touchdown for Clearfield, while Beau
Swales has eight carries for 64 yards and a score.
ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 34, JOHNSONBURG 6 JOHNSONBURG
– Ricky Pearsall ran for 216 yards and four touchdowns
on 32 carries and also picked off a pass on defense, as
Elk County Catholic remained unbeaten with a 34-6 win
over homestanding Johnsonburg Friday night. Pearsall scored on runs of 13 and 2
yards in the first half, with the 2-yard run coming with
32 seconds left in the half, helping the Crusaders (5-0
overall, 5-0 AML South) to a 13-8 halftime lead then
added runs of 2 and 24 yards in the second half helping
ECC outscore the Rams (3-2, 3-2) 21-0 in the half. Kyle Schneider also connected on a
30-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Herzing in the third
quarter, the second of two ECC scores in a time of 1:04
early in the second half that broke the game open.
Schneider finished 6 of 14 passing for 121 yards, the
touchdown and a pick with Herzing catching five passes
for 123 yards. Joe Holmberg caught a 10-yard
touchdown pass from Andrew Nortum in the second quarter
for Johnsonburg’s lone score. Nortum was 9 of 18 for 80
yards and the touchdown and was picked off twice.
Holmberg had five grabs for 59 yards, while Max
Zimmerman ran 18 times for 85yards. Turnovers killed Johnsonburg, as
the Rams turned the ball over seven times including five
fumbles lost. KARNS CITY – Punxsutawney won its
13th straight regular season game 31-0 at
Karns City Friday night thanks to 170 yards rushing and
two touchdowns by Jason Fallara. Fallara scored on runs of 58 and 3
yards, and the Chucks defense allowed Karns City just 78
yards of offense and one trip across the 50-yard line in
handing the Gremlins their first shutout loss in almost
10 years spanning 115 games – Oct. 6, 2000, 3-0 to
Wilmington. It also marked the first time Karns City was
shutout by a conference foe since Clarion beat the
Gremlins 21-0 Sept. 15, 2000. Logan Weaver added a touchdown run
and a touchdown pass for the Chucks (5-0 overall, 2-0
KSAC Small School Division) and ran for 28 yards while
going 5 of 8 passing for 44 yards. Ian Weaver caught an
8-yard touchdown pass from Logan Weaver, and Kody Young
added a 27-yard field goal for Punxsy. Karns City’s best chance to score
came in the first half when Adam Garing missed a 30-yard
field goal. The 13-game regular-season win
streak is the longest for Punxsutawney since it won 13
in a row from 1976-77. The school-record is 17 straight
from 1963-64. The loss is the worst loss suffered
by Karns City to a District 9 team since Oct. 22, 2004,
when Bradford beat the Gremlins 49-10 and the worst
conference loss for Karns City since Sept. 24, 2004,
when Redbank Valley rolled the Gremlins 51-7. Karns City
is 2-3 overall for the first time since that 2004
season. RIDGWAY – Mike Vervoort ran nine
times for 152 yards and five touchdowns and added a
41-yard interception return for a touchdown, as visiting
Brockway rolled past Ridgway 71-6 Friday night despite
quarterback Derek Buganza being pulled in the second
quarter after throwing for 92 yards and a touchdown on 9
of 10 passing with an interception. Buganza was pulled to rest him for
the Curwensville showdown next week. Brockway led 49-0 at halftime
thanks to touchdown runs of 13, 20, 3, 49 and 22 yards
and the interception return by Vervoort. Zach Freemer
also caught a 13-yard scoring pass from Buganza Houston Fairman scored a pair of
second-half touchdowns for Brockway, while running 13
times for 105 yards. The Rovers ran for 416 yards as a
team and outgained Ridgway 508-171. Vervoort also picked off a pass, as
Brockway improved to 5-0 overall, 5-0 AML South while
Ridgway dropped to 0-5, 0-5.
ERIE
CATHEDRAL PREP 51, BRADFORD 7
BRADFORD — Bradford's undefeated start came to a
resounding end courtesy of Erie Cathedral Prep, as the
Ramblers handed the Owls a
51-7 loss Friday.
Pat Pascarella once again was over the 100 yard- mark
with 101 yards on 19 carries, but it wasn't nearly
enough for Bradford (4-1, 2-1).
Prep QB Damion Terry scored on a 1-yard run on the
opening possession of the game and the Ramblers (3-2,
3-0) never looked back.
Prep would add two more touchdowns and two Noah Ackerman
field goals to make it 27-0 at halftime which proved to
be more than enough to ensure the victory.
Bradford scored its lone touchdown on a Zach Britton
35-yard touchdown run with 10:21 remaining in the game
to make it 44-7.
With the loss the Owls fall a game behind Prep and
Warren in District
10 Region 6.
Bradford travels to Edinboro next Friday to face
perennial power General McLane (4-1). SMETHPORT – Zach Austin’s
second-quarter touchdown pass to Jason Blose along with
an extra point helped visiting Cameron County escape
Smethport with a 7-6 win Friday night. Smethport (1-4 overall, 1-4 AML
North) led 6-0 following an 8-yard Kevin Lord touchdown
pass to Ryan Wells early in the second quarter before
Cameron (3-2, 3-2), winners of three straight, responded
late in the frame. The teams were fairly even stat
wiser with Cameron County gaining 191 yards of offense
and Smethport 182. Both teams had 10 first downs with
the Red Raiders turning the ball over four times (two
fumbles, two interceptions) and Smethport twice (one
interception, one fumble). Individual stats for this game
aren’t currently available. COUDERSPORT – Mitch Freeman, Jason
Gibson and Kevin Wolfinger each accounted for two
touchdowns in a 37-0 Coudersport win over visiting
Sheffield Friday night. Freeman ran 11 times for 67 yards
and two touchdowns, while Gibson ran 10 times for 112
yards and a touchdown and also threw a touchdown pass to
Wolfinger, who also scored on a 70-yard run and finished
with 72 yards rushing. Alex Furman scored the other
touchdown for the Falcons (3-2 overall, 3-2 AML North). The Falcons outgained Sheffield
404-192. No individual stats were able for the
Wolverines. FOXBURG – Josh Lencer scored three
touchdowns to lead Keystone to a 47-0 win at A-C Valley
Friday night handing the Falcons their 45th
consecutive defeat. Lencer scored on runs of 43, 24 and
3 yards while rushing six times for 81 yards. Jason
Gillen added 11 carries for 95 yards and a touchdown
for, while Colt O’Neil had nine carries for 71 yards and
a score. B.J. Seyler added a 68-yard interception return
for a touchdown for the Panthers (2-3 overall, 2-1 KSAC
Small School Division), and Kyle Server caught a 3-yard
touchdown pass from Mitch Rearick, who was 7 of 14
passing for 92 yards. Kasey McNany led A-C Valley (0-5,
0-3), who will have to wait two weeks to try to break
the losing streak (the Falcons have next week off ),
going 12 of 22 passing for 72 yards.
