PORT ALLEGANY 20, SMETHPORT 12 PORT ALLEGANY – Behind touchdown
runs from Seth Lowery and Matt Bodamer and two Kenny
Kysor field goals, Port Allegany beat visiting Smethport
20-12 Saturday afternoon. Lowery scored on a 56-yard run and
Bodamer a 3-yard run in the first half, and Kysor kicked
field goals of 23 and 25 yards in the half to help the
Gators (3-3 overall, 3-3 AML North)) take a 20-6
halftime lead. Bodamer finished the day with 10
carries for 74 yards and was 13 of 22 passing for 171
yards and an interception with Lowery chipping in 83
yards rushing on 11 carries. Tyce Miller had four
catches for 79 yards and Trevor Neal four for 54 yards. Ryan Wells led Smethport (1-5, 1-5)
with 22 carries for 130 yards and a 2-yard touchdown
run. Kevin Lord was 6 of 15 passing for 94 yards, a
touchdown and an interception. He hit Andrew Paulik with
an 8-yard scoring pass. The win keeps Port Allegany a game
back of Cameron County for first place in the AML North.
The Gators are tied for second with Coudersport. Port’s
final two regular-season games are at Cameron County and
then home to Coudy. In between, the Gators are at
one-win Sheffield next week. KARNS CITY – Marlon Pegues ran for
146 yards and a touchdown, returned a kickoff for a
touchdown and had a key interception late in the first
half that was returned for a touchdown after he flipped
the ball to a teammate to lead Hickory to a 28-14 win at
Karns City Friday night. Hickory led 14-7 late in the first
half, and Karns City was inside the Hornets 35-yard line
when Pegues, who had returned the opening kickoff 82
yards for a score before giving Hickory the 14-7 lead
with a 5-yard run later in the half, picked off a Dylan
Hipple pass at his own 10-yard line. As he was about to
be tackled on the return, he flipped the ball to
teammate Alexander Kirsch who completed the 90-yard
interception return for a touchdown making it 21-7 at
halftime. Karns City got with seven, 21-14,
on a Hipple to Tyler Marsinetti touchdown pass before
Mike Grata’s 30-yard scoring run gave Hickory cushion. Alex Kinkila led Karns City with
eight carries for 61 yards and scored the first Gremlin
touchdown on a 2-yard run. The loss drops Karns City to 2-4,
the Gremlins worst start since going 2-7 in 1995. Karns
City had lost a total of eight games the last four
seasons while winning four straight District 9 Class A
titles including just four regular-season contests.
CLEARFIELD 56, PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA 25 HYDE – Beau Swales scored four
touchdowns, including two on interception returns, and
ran for 138 yards as the Clearfield Bisons rolled to a
56-25 win over Philipsburg-Osceola Friday night. The Bisons (6-0) actually trailed
3-0 midway through the first quarter, but scored 42
unanswered points through the rest of the first half.
Then Swales returned his second pickoff 27 yards midway
through the third quarter. His first came on a 32-yard
return and his TD run came from
64 yards out late in the third quarter. JOHNSONBURG – Andrew Nortum

touchdowns, almost all of it going to his top receiver
Joe Holmberg in a 41-0 rout of next-door rival Ridgway
Friday night. Holmberg caught nine passes for 164
yards and hauled in scoring strikes of 40, 9, 23 and 21
yards. Max Zimmerman scored the Rams’ first touchdown on

14 carries in the first half alone and scored three
touchdowns on runs of 5, 1 and 1 yards to give Chestnut

MEADVILLE – Artel Foster’s 5-yard touchdown run with
6:09 left capped a come-from-behind 21-14 win for
Meadville over visiting DuBois in a District 10-Region 5
game Friday night.
DuBois (3-3 overall, 2-2 Region 5) led 14-7 at halftime
and carried that lead into the opening minute of the
fourth quarter before Zack Towers scored his second
touchdown of the night on a 1-yard run 59 seconds into
the quarter to tie the game.
Towers’ 12-yard run midway through the first quarter
gave Meadville (2-4, 2-2) a 7-0 lead before DuBois tied
the game on a 51-yard touchdown pass from Sean Sleigh to

first-year Otto-Eldred head coach Virgil Graham his
first career win 10-8 over visiting Sheffield Friday

Knapp’s field goal put the Terrors (1-5) ahead 10-0, and
