SPILT NIGHT IN PIAA PLAYOFF ACTION FOR DISTRICT 9 |
PITTSBURGH – It was a split night for District 9 in
the opening round of the PIAA playoffs Friday. In Pittsburgh, Moniteau got four passing touchdowns
and a rushing touchdown from Kyle Armagost in a 39-12 win over Oliver.
The Warriors await the winner of Saturday’s WPIAL title game between
Jeannette and Aliquippa. But in DuBois, Clearfield blew a 20-7
fourth-quarter lead and lost 27-26 in overtime to Shamokin. The Indians
tied the game with a touchdown with 37 seconds left capping a 75-yard
drive in the final 3:30 and then scored on a 15-yard run on third down
on its overtime possession. The Bisons answered with a Curtis Frye to
Beau Swales touchdown pass, but Frye’s two-point conversion pass was
incomplete. More on both of these games will be posted later. |
