CURWENSVILLE 37, SHEFFIELD 0

CURWENSVILLE – Hunter McCracken scored a pair of second-half touchdowns after throwing one in the first half to help Curwensville get a 37-0 win over visiting Sheffield in a game that started Friday night and finished Monday afternoon.

Curwensville (2-0 overall, 2-0 AML South) led 15-0 at halftime when the game was called Friday and then scored 22 unanswered second-half points Monday, including 16 in the third quarter on two short McCracken runs, when it resumed.

McCracken was 5 of 11 passing for 100 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. He hit Jesse Zorger with a 43-yard scoring pass in the second quarter Friday night and then scored on runs of one and four yards Monday afternoon finishing with 20 yards rushing on seven carries.

Alex Holland added 25 carries for 150 yards and two touchdowns scoring on a 3-yard run in the first quarter Friday and on a 9-yard run in the fourth quarter Monday. Zorger added three catches for 72 yards and also had two interceptions on defense.

Shequan Wright was 7 of 13 passing for 110 yards and an interception for Sheffield while also rushing 16 times for 35 yards.

UNION 30, SAEGERTOWN 14

SAEGERTOWN – Taylor Smith accounted for 218 yards of offense and a pair of touchdowns while also playing strong on the defensive side of the football to lead Union to a 30-14 win at Saegertown Friday night.

Smith was 8 of 15 passing for 101 yards and a touchdown, ran 11 times for 117 yards and a score and recorded 10 tackles on defense to help the Golden Knights (1-1) to their first win of the season.

Austin Davis added 15 carries for 61 yards and a touchdown while making 14 tackles on defense and coming away with 1 ½ sacks. Brody Pollock added four catches for 53 yards and a score, and Aaron Graham had a 47-yard touchdown run on his only carry and added 14 stops on defense.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 42, A-C VALLEY 6

FOXBURG - Alex Fedigan ran for 136 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries to lead Punxsutawney to a 42-6 win at A-C Valley Friday night.

Garrett Zimmerman added 123 yards passing and two touchdowns on 7 of 16 throwing with Jamie Bush catching three passes for 67 yards and a score and rushing seven times for 63 yards and a touchdown. Clayton Dale added two grabs for 30 yards and a touchdown for the Chucks (1-1).

Colton Cunningham led A-C Valley (0-2) going 14 of 24 passing for 139 yards and an interception while rushing eight times for 11 yards and a touchdown.

DUBOIS 37, OIL CITY 12

OIL CITY — The DuBois Beavers waited until Sunday afternoon to notch a win on the road, beating the Oil City Oilers, 37-12.

In  a game originally scheduled for Friday but postponed because of inclement weather, the Beavers improved to 2-0 after jumping out to a 28-6 halftime lead and building their advantage to 37-6 before the Oilers scored a meaningless touchdown as time expired.

The Beavers picked off Oil City quarterback Blake Hadley three times with Max Hine coming away with two interceptions, running one back 27 yards for a first-quarter touchdown. DuBois also cashed in twice shortly after bad Oil City punt snaps.

DuBois quarterback Sean Sleigh completed 14 of 25  passes to nine different receivers for 152 yards with two touchdown passes of 27 yards to Jon Lutcher and 2 yards to Broc McKolosky. Brady Haines scored twice on runs of 6 and 3  yards. Haines rushed for  81 yards on 12 carries.

Gabe Hrecznyj added a 32-yard field goal for the Beavers.

BROOKVILLE 36, KEYSTONE 6

KNOX — Brookville quarterback Steven Kennedy threw three touchdown passes for the second straight week as the Raiders dumped the Keystone Panthers, 36-6, Friday night.

Kennedy completed 9 of 13 passes for 112 yards. He threw two TD passes to Sebastian Kerr covering 19 and 15 yards, and hit Conan Gilhousen with a 14-yarder.

Sophomore running back Zach Vroman rushed for 134 yards on nine carries, blasting 74 yards for the game’s first score in the first quarter. Nathan Bonfardine also scored on an 8-yard run. The Raiders (1-1) outgained Keystone, 353-113, and limited the Panthers (0-2) to just six first downs.

Of Keystone’s total offense, 58 yards and four first downs came on the game’s final drive with the PIAA Mercy Rule’s running clock in motion against the Raiders’ second-string defense. Josh Lencer scored on a 3-yard run as time expired.

PORT ALLEGANY 40, BROCKWAY 30

BROCKWAY — In a shootout that covered two days, the Port Allegany Gators pulled away from the Brockway Rovers for a 40-30 win Saturday afternoon.

Port Allegany quarterback Matt Bodamer completed 23 of 30 passes for 367 yards with four touchdowns while running for 35 yards and two scores, leading the Gators (2-0) in a come-from-behind effort that saw them trailing the Rovers 23-14 early in the fourth quarter. The Gators then scored 26 unanswered points to seal the win.

Bodamer threw three TD passes to Tyce Miller, a 14-yarder in the first quarter and connections of 8 and 15 yards to Miller during the 26-point run in the second half. Miller had a huge night with Bodamer, catching 13 passes for 228 yards.

Brockway quarterback Kyle Braun rushed for 100 yards and passed for 120 yards for the Rovers, who dropped to 1-1. He threw TD passes of 69 yards to Steve Sette and 30 yards to Levi Miller and scored on a 9-yard run. Tom Vervoort rushed for 103 yards on 23 carries, scoring on a 2-yard run.

The game started Friday night, but was postponed due to stormy weather halfway through the second quarter.

MONITEAU 20, CLARION 6

WEST SUNBURY — Beating Clarion at home for the first time in eight years, the Moniteau Warriors improved to 2-0 with a 20-6 win over Clarion Friday night.

Kyle Armagost passed and threw for touchdowns while Dustin Geagan secured the game with a 55-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter. Armagost threw a 42-yard pass to Ethan Pry to open the game’s scoring in the first quarter, then put the Warriors up for good at 14-6 when he scored on a 1-yard run in the third quarter. He rushed for 75 yards on 14 carries and completed 4 of 9 passes for 95 yards. Geagan gained 88 yards on just eight carries.

Clarion (1-1) scored on John Katis’ 5-yard pass to T.J. Armstrong in the first quarter. Marcus Smerker rushed for 58 yards on 13 carries. Katis completed 8 of 20 passes for 117 yards, but was intercepted four times, three times by Pry and once by Armagost.

CAMERON COUNTY 22, JOHNSONBURG 20, 2 OTs

EMPORIUM — Nick Stuckey’s 5-yard run and two-point conversion in the second overtime was the difference as the Cameron County Red Raiders outlasted visiting Johnsonburg, 22-20, Friday night.

Johnsonburg had a chance to tie the game in the following possession after Quinn Luhr hit Frank Kocjancic on a 5-yard TD pass, but the Rams were stopped on the two-point conversion try to end the game.

The Rams (0-2) led the Red Raiders (1-1) 8-0 on Quinn Luhr’s 21-yard TD pass to Frank Kojancic in the first quarter and safety with 10:12 left in the fourth quarter. But Cameron County scored on Tony Olivett’s 4-yard run and Matt Fragale added a two-point conversion run to knot things at 8-8 with 4:21 left in regulation.

All 200 of Cameron County’s yards came on the ground with Olivett leading the way with 85 yards on 10 carries. Tucker Britton rushed for 50 yards on 15 carries.

Johnsonburg got a good game from Luhr, who completed 15 of 25 passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns. Almost all of Luhr’s passing went to Kocjancic, who caught 14  passes for 152 yards. Luhr also made two touchdowns on defense.

ST. MARYS 44, CLARION-LIMESTONE 6

ST. MARYS — After enduring 75 minutes of storm delay, the St. Marys Flying Dutchmen walked off the field with a little over three minutes left in the game with a 44-6 win over visiting Clarion-Limestone Friday night.

Officials stopped the game with 3:20 remaining, declaring the game official.

The Flying Dutchmen (2-0) piled up 391 yards of rushing, led by Cody Baker’s 180 yards on just 13 carries with three touchdowns on runs of 11, 15 and 1 yards. Brian Merritt rushed for 96 yards on seven carries and ran for a 45-yard touchdown in the Dutch’s 28-point first quarter.

St. Marys led 44-0 before C-L’s Davi Macefe ran 90 yards for a touchdown with 7:49 left in the game. The big run accounted for the bulk of the Lions’ 114 yards of offense.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 48, OTTO-ELDRED 0

DUKE CENTER — The Elk County Crusaders rolled to an easy 48-0 rout at Otto-Eldred Friday night.

The Crusaders (2-0) rolled up 450 yards of offense as Cole Gerber scored three touchdowns on runs of 26, 41 and 4 yards and finished with 142 yards on 12 carries. Brock McCullough scored twice on runs of 4 and 9 yards.

ECC led 28-0 at halftime and 42-0 after three quarters.

Otto-Eldred (0-2) managed just 67 yards of offense and just four first downs.

KARNS CITY 28, REDBANK VALLEY 14

NEW BETHLEHEM — Quarterback Tyler Kepple threw three touchdown passes as the visiting Karns City Gremlins continued their road dominance of the Redbank Valley Bulldogs in a 28-14 win Friday night.

Karns City (1-1) hasn’t lost in New Bethlehem since 1999, a winning streak now at six straight games.

The Gremlins trailed early following Kyle Lee’s 42-yard fumble return that gave Redbank Valley (1-1) its only lead at 7-0, but Kepple hit Brandyn Bowser for the first of two times on a 10-yard TD pass. Jerod Hutchinson scored on  a 1-yard run and then Kepple threw two third-quarter TDs of 16 and 30 yards to Glenn Toy and Bowser respectively.

Kepple completed 6 of 7 passes for 69 yards and rushed for 91 yards.

Lee led the Bulldogs with 68 yards on 13 carries. Quarterback Jake Dougherty completed 6 of 16 passes for 107 yards. He threw a 60-yard TD pass to Keaton Delp for the team’s final touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Delp had five catches for 103 yards and a score.

CLEARFIELD 49, BALD EAGLE AREA 14

WINGATE — Beau Swales, Christian Lezzer and Curtis Frye each scored two touchdowns as the Clearfield Bisons raced to a 49-14 rout of Bald Eagle Area Friday night.

The Bisons (2-2) led BEA (0-2) 42-0 by the 5:04 mark of the second quarter. Swales scored on runs of 5 and 7 yards, Lezzer ran 52 yards for a touchdown and returned a fumble 78 yards for another score and quarterback Frye scored on short runs of 6 and 1 yards.

Swales rushed for 103 yards on 17 carries as the Bisons only outgained the Eagles, 308-274, but BEA turned the ball over five times.

RIDGWAY 28, SMETHPORT 7

RIDGWAY — Eric Matheson pulled off a rare four-touchdown performance in leading the Ridgway Elkers to a 28-7 win over Smethport Saturday night in a game moved from Friday because of weather.

Matheson scored his four TDs in three different ways. He returned a punt 37 yards in the first quarter, gathered up a fumble and ran 11 yards in the second quarter, recovered a fumble in the end zone for a score in the fourth quarter and finished off the game’s scoring in the fourth with a 47-yard run.

Matheson rushed for 33 yards on nine carries and caught two passes for 57 yards, helping the Elkers improve to 1-1.

Smethport (0-2) scored its lone touchdown in  the fourth quarter on quarterback Kevin Lord’s 5-yard run. Ryan Stratten led the Hubbers with 79 yards rushing on 16 carries.

COUDERSPORT 25, KANE 7

COUDERSPORT — Mitch Freeman ran for two touchdowns as the Coudersport Falcons improved to 2-0 with a 25-7 win over visiting Kane.

Freeman’s runs came from 3 and 9 yards out. Quarterback Tim McCusker threw a 28-yard pass to Alex Furman and Jason Gibson returned a punt for six points.

Kane (1-1) got its lone touchdown on quarterback Sean Jordan’s 32-yard pass to Sea Rolick to tie the game at 7-7.

MEADVILLE 41, BRADFORD 0

MEADVILLE — DeQuan Epps ran for three touchdowns to lead the Meadville Bulldogs to a shutout win over visiting Bradford Friday night.

Epps ran for 150 yards and scored on runs of 23, 3 and 57 yards.

The Owls (0-2) were outgained, 443-117. Zach Britton led the Owls with 54 yards rushing on six carries.
