KEYSTONE 46, A-C VALLEY 0 KNOX – Tanner Hannold scored three
touchdowns and Josh Lencer two, as Keystone more than
tripled its scoring output on the season Mercy Ruling
visiting A-C Valley 46-0 Saturday afternoon. Hannold scored on first-quarter
runs of one and five yards and then caught a 27-yard
touchdown pass from Adam Lencer in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, Josh Lencer scored on runs of 20 and 13 yards
in the fourth quarter to complete the scoring. Hannold finished the game with 111
yards rushing on 12 carries and one catch for 27 yards.
Josh Lencer had seven carries for 75 yards and picked
off a pass on defense, while Adam Lencer was 4-for-6 for
71 yards and one touchdown. Also scoring for Keystone were Colt
O’Neil (46-yard run) and Matt Black (2-yard run). Keystone’s defense limited A-C
Valley to 51 yards of total offense outgaining the
Falcons 420-51.
COUDERSPORT 7, SHEFFIELD 6, OVERTIME SHEFFIELD – Mitch Freeman scored on
a 7-yard run in overtime, and Santiago Martinez booted
the game-winning extra point, as unbeaten Coudersport
survived an upset bid from homestanding Sheffield 7-6 in
overtime Saturday afternoon. The game was scoreless through
regulation before Sheffield took a 6-0 lead when Shequan
Wright hit Kwante Johnson with a touchdown pass from
about 15 yards out in overtime. The Wolverines went for
two but came up short. Coudersport played without starting
quarterback Tim McCusker and also lost star running back
Caden Whitman to a leg injury during the game. We will have more on this game when
it is reported.
BROCKWAY 30, RIDGWAY 22 BROCKWAY — Kyle Braun ran for a
touchdown and threw for another and four different
players found the end zone as the Brockway Rovers beat
the Ridgway Elkers for the 12th straight time
with a 30-22 win Friday night. Braun led a Rovers 277-yard rushing
attack with 123 yards on 18 carries. He scored on a
51-yard run in the second quarter. Braun also completed
6 of 10 passes for 73 yards, connecting on two TD passes
of 20 yards to Ryan States and 9 yards to Jacob Perrin. The Rovers (4-1) also got a 39-yard
field goal from Phil Esposito and a 3-yard fumble
recovery return by Jacob Heigel in the third quarter. Brockway led 30-7 before Ridgway
(3-2) scored twice in the fourth quarter, both of them
touchdowns from Eric Matheson on runs of 1 and 5 yards.
Mike Cappiello scored the Elkers’ other touchdown on a
15-yard run in the second quarter. Matheson led the
Elkers with 63 yards rushing on only 13 carries.
Matheson and Elkers quarterback Jordan Lundin were
intercepted twice by the Rovers’ States and Braun.
ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 34, JOHNSONBURG 0 ST. MARYS — Racking up 327 rushing
yards, the Elk County Catholic Crusaders ran their way
to a 34-0 shutout of visiting Johnsonburg Friday night. Joe McLaughlin ran for 111 yards on
eight carries with a touchdown run of 62 yards while
Cole Gerber ran for 60 yards on six carries with scoring
runs of 21 and 1 yards to start the game’s scoring. Joe
Georgino and Brock McCullough, who rushed for 73 yards
on nine carries, also scored touchdowns on runs of 3 and
10 yards respectively. The Crusaders (4-1) limited the
Rams (0-5) to just 94 yards of offense, intercepting
Rams quarterback Jaryd Servidea five times, including
twice by Clayton Housler. Servidea completed 8 of 15
passes for 78 yards.
UNION 36, CLARION-LIMESTONE 7 STRATTANVILLE – Taylor Smith ran
for two touchdowns and passed for two more, as visiting
Union used a 22-point second quarter to top
Clarion-Limestone 36-7 in KSAC Small School Division
action Friday night. Smith was 6 of 8 passing for 116
yards including a 5-yard touchdown pass to Brody Pollock
and a 50-yard toss to Cody Klein in the first half. He
also ran 12 times for a 72 yards and scored on runs of
one and 12 yards. Mikey Harris, who had 13 carries
for 103 yards and had one catch for 27 yards, also
scored on a 1-yard, second-quarter run for the Golden
Knights (3-2 overall, 1-2 KSAC Small School), and the
Golden Knights also recorded a safety when they tackled
Billy Kelley in the end zone in the first quarter. Tristen Shaffer scored C-L’s lone
touchdown on a 1-yard run early in the fourth
quarter after the Mercy Rule was running.
Shaffer finished
with five carries for 45 yards while Kyle Robertson had
13 for 46 and Kelley 10 for 22. Kelly was also 6 of 10
for 50 yards and was picked off by Brody Shick.
KARNS CITY 21, PUNXSUTAWNEY 20 PUNXSUTAWNEY – Visiting Karns City
rallied from a 14-0 first-quarter deficit to knock off
upset minded Punxsutawney 21-20 Friday night. Alex Kinkela’s second touchdown run
of the game, a 13-yard scamper, with 5:14 left in the
game coupled with Adam Garing’s extra point gave the
Gremlins the lead for good, and Brandyn Bowser’s
interception of the Chucks Garret Zimmerman deep in
Karns City territory with 56 seconds left sealed the
win. A pair of 1-yard touchdown runs by
Zimmerman in the first quarter staked the Chucks to the
14-0 lead, but a 2-yard scoring run by Kinkela and a
32-yard touchdown run by Glenn Toy tied the game at 14
late in the first half before Punxsutawney took a 20-14
halftime lead when Zimmerman hit Clayton Dale with a
44-yard scoring pass. Toy paced Karns City with 10
carries for 56 yards, Tyler Shreve had five for 51 and
Alex Kinkela nine for 44. Zimmerman was 12-for-16 for 196
yards, one touchdown and one interception. Luke Janocha
had eight catches for 132 yards and Dale three for 54
and a the touchdown. Alex Fedigan added 82 yards rushing
helping Punxsy outgain Karns City 251-221.
ERIE
CATHEDRAL PREP 49, BRADFORD 7
ERIE — Division I prospect Damion Terry threw for 361
yards and four touchdowns to lead Cathedral Prep to a
49-7 victory over Bradford at the Cathedral Prep Events
Center Friday.
Bradford (2-3) scored its lone touchdown on a Zach
Vleminckx 37-yard interception return in the second
quarter.
The Prep (4-1) defense limited Bradford to just 21 yards
of total offense.
PORT
ALLEGANY 62, OTTO-ELDRED 8
ELDRED — Matt Bodamer threw for 248 yards and four
touchdowns to lead Port Allegany to a 62-8 win over
Otto-Eldred Friday.
Tyce Miller was on the receiving end of five of
Bodamer’s passes for 131 yards and touchdowns of 71, 1
and 30 yards.
The Gators (4-1) jumped all over the Terrors (1-4)
early, leading 28-0 at the end of the first quarter and
28-0 at halftime.
O-E scored their lone touchdown on a Dakota Vaughn
63-yard pass to Luke Kerr in the third quarter.
For the game, Port Allegany outgained
Otto-Eldred 424-148.
SMETHPORT 48, CAMERON COUNTY 20
EMPORIUM — Karl Lightner scored three touchdowns and
piled up 180 yards rushing on 22 carries to lead
Smethport to their first win of the season, 48-20 over
Cameron County Friday.
After Cameron County (1-4) scored first to make it 7-0,
Smethport rattled off 41 unanswered points to make it
41-7 after three quarters.
Kevin Lord and Clay Schuler also had big games for the
Hubbers. Lord completed 9 of 13 passes for 142 yards and
two touchdowns, one through the air and one on the
ground.
Schuler had a 20-yard TD reception and a one-yard rush
for a score.
The Hubbers racked up 461 yards of offense on the night.
For Cameron County, Zach Austin finished with 64 yards
rushing and a touchdown, while Tony Olivett rushed for
65 yards and a score.
MONITEAU 39, ST.
MARYS 15 WEST SUNBURY — In a battle of
unbeatens at the top of the KSAC’s Large School
Division, it was the Moniteau Warriors who came on top
with a 39-15 win over visiting St. Marys. Warriors sophomore running back
Dustin Geagan rushed for 305 yards on 24 carries and
scored four touchdowns on runs of 45, 89, 17 and 12
yards to lead the way as Moniteau (5-0) racked up 536
yards of offense while limiting the Flying Dutchmen to
just 49. Moniteau quarterback Kyle Armagost
didn’t need to throw much but ran for 178 yards on 15
carries and with a 1-yard TD run. He completed just 1 of
7 passes, but his completion went to Ethan Pry for a
40-yard TD strike. St. Marys (4-1) got a 2-yard run
from Cody Baker, who was limited to just 25 yards on
eight carries. Justin Quiggle returned a kickoff 79
yards for a touchdown following Moniteau’s final score.
The Dutch also sacked Armagost in the end zone for a
safety in the third quarter.
CLEARFIELD 35,
CENTRAL MOUNTAIN 19 MILL HALL — Beau Swales ran for 257
yards on 27 carries and scored on runs of 6, 5, 20 and
49 yards to lead the unbeaten Clearfield Bisons past the
Central Mountain Wildcats, 35-19. Central Mountain led the Bisons
(5-0), 13-7, following Drew Alexander’s
25-yard run with 9:12 left in the second quarter,
but the Bisons scored 28 unanswered points on Swales’
four touchdown runs to take control of the game. Swales pretty much accounted for
must of the Clearfield offense. Christian Lezzer rushed
for 48 yards on seven carries and scored the Bisons’
other touchdown on a 9-yard run early in the second
quarter. Quarterback Curtis Frye rushed for 59 yards
on 12 carries and completed 3 of 8 passes for 11
yards.
CURWENSVILLE 13,
KANE 6 CURWENSVILLE — Alex Holland ran for
two touchdowns in the first half and helped the
Curwensville Tide squeeze past visiting Kane Friday
night, 13-6. Holland rushed for 163 yards on a
whopping 44 carries. He ran for a 3-yard touchdown in
the first quarter and 11-yard touchdown in the second
quarter, which was enough for the Golden Tide to improve
to 4-1 in the Allegheny Mountain League. Kane (3-2) scored on Jonah Smith’s
1-yard run in the third quarter. Wolves quarterback Sean
Jordan completed 9 of 18 passes for 169 yards, but was
intercepted twice.
DUBOIS 35,
BROOKVILLE 0 BROOKVILLE — Joey Morrison scored
three touchdowns as the visiting DuBois Beavers blanked
the Brookville Raiders on Homecoming Night, 35-0. Morrison opened the game with an
86-yard kick return for a touchdown and added
scoring runs of 1 and 9 yards as the Beavers
started the PIAA Mercy Rule’s running clock with 5:30
left in the game. Beavers quarterback Sean Sleigh
passed for 118 yards and rushed for 77 yards, throwing a
33-yard TD pass to Max Hine to close the game’s scoring
in the fourth quarter. Needing nine yards coming into
the game, Sleigh broke Eric Hatten’s school passing
yardage record and upped his career total to 2,737
yards. The Beavers (4-1) also got a 1-yard
TD run from Shane Marshall, who led the team with 92
yards rushing on 14 carries. Brookville (2-3) had the ball
inside the DuBois 30 on five occasions, but came up
empty. The Raiders turned it over twice on those
possessions. Zach Vroman
rushed for 62 yards on 20 carries and quarterback
Steven Kennedy completed 11 of 17 passes for 131 yards
with one interception.
