A-C VALLEY 28,
HANCOCK, MD 24 HANCOCK, MD – Landon Delisio scored
two touchdowns in the final 2:25 to rally visiting A-C
Valley to its first win of the season 28-24 over
Hancock, Md. The Falcons (1-6) trailed 24-14
with just under five minutes to play before Delisio
scored on a 41-yard run with just over 2:20 left that
cut Hancock’s lead to 24-22. A-C Valley then recovered the
on-side kick with 2:19 to play, and twice looked to have
taken the lead only to have touchdowns called back by
penalty. But, finally, Delisio scored on a
4-yard run to give the Falcons the win in the final
minute of play. Delisio had a monster game with
nine carries for 119 yards and two touchdowns while also
catching four passes for 55 yards. He was one of two
Falcons over 100 yards rushing, as Mike Suto added seven
carries for 103 yards and a touchdown. Kodie Rose added
seven carries for 67 yards and a score, as A-C Valley
ran for a season-high 400 yards on 38 carries while
racking up a season-high 628 yards of total offense. Kevin Kaufman was 9-for-17 passing
for 145 yards and two interceptions and added 43 yards
rushing on seven carries and 33 yards receiving on three
catches. He also picked off two balls on defense and had
nine tackles. Colton Cunningham was 10-for-14
passing for 80 yards and two picks while rushing four
times for 43 yards and catching five passes for 56
yards. He made 10 tackles on defense while Jimmy Holton
added 11 stops. A-C Valley’s last two wins have
come over Hancock.
PORT ALLEGANY 54,
CAMERON COUNTY 6 PORT ALLEGANY – Tyce Miller caught
eight passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns to help
Port Allegany to an easy 54-6 win over visiting Cameron
County Saturday afternoon. Both of Miller’s touchdown catches
came in the first half, as the Gators (7-1) jumped out
to a 27-0 halftime lead. Matt Bodamer threw both scores to
Miller and added a rushing touchdown for Port Allegany.
He was 22-for-30 passing for 287 yards and also ran 11
times for 57 yards. Trent Neal chipped in 12 carries
for 75 yards and a touchdown for the Gators while
Charlie Buchanan had seven catches for 57 yards. Garrett Drabert also scored twice
for Port Allegany reaching the end zone on a 24-yard run
in the fourth quarter and then returning a blocked punt
20 yards for the game’s final score. Coty Causer blocked
the kick.
Also scoring for Port Allegany was
Jonny Sena on a 2-yard run and Trey Miller on an 11-yard
run. SHEFFIELD 18, SMETHPORT 0
UNION 25, ST.
MARYS 7 RIMERSBURG – Union is on the cusp
of its first-ever District 9 playoff appearance after
stunning visiting St. Marys 25-7 Friday night. The Golden Knights (5-3), who
secured their first five-win season since 1997,
outgained the fading Dutch (5-3), who have lost three of
four since starting4-0 for the first time since 1966,
347 yards to 193. Taylor Smith threw for two
touchdowns and ran for a third to lead Union, which most
likely needs to win just one of its final two games
against A-C Valley and Sheffield to clinch a Class A
playoff spot. Smith was 8 of 14 passing for 112
yards and threw touchdown passes of 15 and 23 yards to
Brody Pollock, who caught four passes for 74 yards.
Smith added 57 yards rushing on 11 carries including a
5-yard touchdown run. Austin Davis led Union’s rushing
attack with 133 yards on 22 carries and put the game
away with a 35-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Union led 19-0 at halftime before
St. Marys turned a Knight turnover into a 7-yard
touchdown run by Cody Baker, who led the Dutch with 17
carries for 89 yards.
MONITEAU 42,
KEYSTONE 0 WEST SUNBURY – Kyle Armagost threw
for three touchdowns and ran for a fourth, as Moniteau
won its eighth straight game with a 42-0 shutout over
visiting Keystone Friday night. The Warriors 8-0 start is one shy
of the school record of nine straight wins to start a
season set in 2008 when Moniteau won a school record 10
games (10-2). It is just the third time in school
history the Warriors have eight wins. They went 8-0-1 in
1959. Armagost was 8 of 15 passing for
137 yards and also ran 16 times for a game-high 104
yards. He threw touchdown passes of 39 and 30 yards to
Ethan Pry, who finished with three catches for 76 yards,
and an 18-yard strike to Joey Deal while also scoring on
a 1-yard run. The Warriors led just 15-0 at
halftime but outscored Keystone 27-0 in the second half
while holding the Panthers to 71 total yards including
minus 17 rushing. Dustin Geagan, who ran 16 times for
91 yards, added a 35-yard touchdown run and Justin Smith
returned a fumble two yards for a score.
RIDGWAY 14, KANE
0 KANE – Two second-half touchdowns
helped Ridgway kept its District 9 Class A playoff hopes
alive with a 14-0 win at Kane Friday night. After a scoreless first half, Eric
Matheson got the Elkers (5-3) on the scoreboard with an
88-yard run early in the third quarter and then Jordan
Lundin added a 7-yard run in the fourth quarter. Thanks to the long run, Matheson
ran 10 times for 139 yards, while Lundin was 4-for-4
passing for 38 yards and added seven carries for 32
yards. Kane (4-4), which was limited to
102 yards of total offense, got 39 yards rushing on 13
carries from Jonah Smith. Ridgway currently sits in ninth
place in the District 9 Class A playoff standings behind
5-3 Elk County Catholic and 5-3 Union. The Elkers take
on ECC next week. COUDERSPORT 35, OTTO-ELDRED 26 DUKE CENTER — Coudersport rallied
from a 20-7 halftime deficit to defeat upset-minded
Otto-Eldred 35-26 Friday, remaining unbeaten at 8-0 in
the process. Mitch Freeman ran for three
touchdowns and Tim McCusker threw for two more, both to
Jason Gibson, to lead
the Falcons to 28 unanswered points to open the second
half. All-tolled, Freeman rushed for 151
yards on 23 carries, scoring on runs of 23, two and 11
yards, while McCusker threw for scores of 24 and 25
yards, accounting for 129 yards total through the air on
6 of 25 passing. The Falcons comeback overshadowed a
big game from Otto-Eldred’s (1-7) Luke Kerr, who rushed
for 174 yards on 16 carries and two scores. Kerr opened the scoring in the
first quarter on an 84-yard jaunt, and added a 46 yard
run that put the Terrors up 20-7 in the second quarter. O-E quarterback Dakota Vaughn threw
for 123 yards and two TDs, a 46-yarder to Coy Hoffman
in the second quarter and a 10-yard strike to Sam
Colebert as time expired in the fourth. ERIE EAST 42, BRADFORD 7 ERIE — Bradford netted just 35
yards of offense in a 42-7 loss to Erie East Friday. The Owls (3-5) lone score came on a
Zach Britton four-yard run early in the second quarter
that was set-up by a fumble recovery by David Reinhardt. Anthony Jordan scored on runs of 53
and 18 yards for East (5-3), while also scoring on a
35-yard catch from Jauwan Ford. Bradford returns to Erie Friday for
a matchup with Strong Vincent.
KARNS CITY 56,
CLARION-LIMESTONE 14 STRATTANVILLE — Jerod Hutchison and
Wyatt Everetts each scored two touchdowns in Karns
City’s 34-point second half as the Gremlins rolled to a
56-14 win at Clarion-Limestone Friday night. Leading 22-7 at halftime, the
Gremlins scored 27 unanswered points on Glenn Toy’s
64-yard run and Hutchison’s runs of 1 ad 39 yards.
Everetts then scored on a 2-yard run to put the Gremlins
up 49-7 with 5:16 remaining. Following C-L’s touchdown
on Christian Bakewell’s 19-yard pass to Billy Kelley,
Everetts returned the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for a
touchdown. In the first half, the Gremlins got
a 25-yard scoring run from quarterback Brady
Ellenberger, who also tossed a 15-yard pass to Alex
Kinkela. Backup quarterback Tyler Kepple threw a 5-yard
TD pass to Brandon Krumpe. Toy led the Gremlins (5-3) with 132
yards on only nine carries. C-L’s other touchdown came on
Bakewell’s 10-yard pass to Tommy Smith with 1:37 left in
the first half. Joe Tommasi rushed for 116 yards on 20
carries.
REDBANK VALLEY
42, PUNXSUTAWNEY 12 PUNXSUTAWNEY — In a surprisingly
easy manner, visiting Redbank Valley walloped
Punxsutawney, 42-12, Friday night. The Bulldogs (4-4) scored all of
their points in the first half as they blasted their way
to a 42-0 lead by halftime. Mark Strothers and Keaton Delp each
scored two touchdowns while quarterback Jake Dougherty
threw for two scores. Strothers scored on runs of 35 and
59 yards, finishing with 141 yards on only nine carries.
Dougherty completed 8 of 11 passes for 127 yards with
his TD passes covering 24 yards to Delp and 33 yards to
Caleb Smith. Delp also ran for
a 42-yard touchdown and finished with 56 yards on
just three carries. Punxsutawney (2-6) scored both
touchdowns in the second half on an Alex Fedigan 5-yard
run and Garrett Zimmerman 15-yard pass to Luke Janocha.
Zimmerman completed 11 of 25 passes for 178 yards.
CURWENSVILLE 38,
ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 6 ST. MARYS — Alex Holland turned in
his second straight 300-yard rushing effort, keying the
Curwensville Tide to a 38-6 win over Elk County Catholic
Friday night. Holland ran for 311 yards on 41
carries and scored three touchdowns on runs of 49, 4 and
11 yards. All three touchdowns were part of
Curwensville’s 30-0 run to start the game. His 11-yarder
put the Tide (6-2) up 30-0 with 7:43 left in the third
quarter. Holland went over 2,000 yards for
the season for the second straight year and it was his
third 300-yard rushing effort of the season and fourth
of his career. Curwensville’s other touchdowns
came on quarterback Hunter McCracken’s 32-yard pass to
Jordan Russell and Brad Coudriet’s 3-yard run late in
the fourth quarter. ECC (5-3) scored on Cole Gerber’s
23-yard run in the third quarter. Gerber rushed for 116
yards on 16 carries.
BROOKVILLE 13,
CLARION 12 BROOKVILLE — The Brookville Raiders
cashed in on a Clarion turnover deep in its own
territory with Zach Vroman’s 4-yard touchdown run late
in the third quarter to rally from a halftime deficit to
beat visiting Clarion, 13-12, Friday night. The Raiders (4-4) trailed 12-0 at
halftime, but scored on their first two possessions of
the third quarter. Senior tight end Austin Burney caught
a 19-yard pass from quarterback Steven Kennedy on a
fourth-and-4
play at the 4:31 mark. After Eric Tosh recovered a Clarion
fumbled pitch at the Bobcats’ 18, the Raiders scored
three plays later — along with two Bobcats penalties —
on Vroman’s run with 2:27 left in the quarter. Kicker
Cameron Yard missed the point-after kick, but he made
the first point-after on Burney’s TD and that proved to
be the difference in the game. Brodie Zacherl led the Raiders with
89 yards rushing on 12 carries, all but 10 of those
yards coming in the second
half on a very muddy field. Although Clarion (5-3) outgained
Brookville, 245-173, the Raiders held the Bobcats to 159
yards in the second half and just 19 yards rushing. T.J.
Armstrong
finished with 69 yards on 19 carries, just 5 yards on
eight carries in the second half. The Bobcats scored their two
touchdowns on big passing plays by Brandon Heeter, who
completed 7 of 13 passes for 155 yards. Heeter found
Camron Kirkland wide open over the middle for a 56-yard
scoring connection with 1:36 left in the first quarter.
Then on almost the identical play, Heeter hit Damien
Slike for a 42-yard TD pass on the Bobcats’ next
possession with 7:19 left in the second quarter. But from there, the Bobcats failed
to gain a first down until the final play of the third
quarter and closest they got to the end zone was the
Raiders’ 42 on their final play when Heeter was sacked
by Tosh with 56.8 seconds left in the game.
Sean Sleigh was 15 of 28 passing for 148 yards, a touchdown and an interception for the Beavers with Max Hine catching six passes for 78 yards and a score. |
