CLEARFIELD 34, CENTRAL-MARTINSBURG 33

HYDE – Spencer Herrington’s 29-yard field goal with 3:58 to play lifted Clearfield to a 34-33 win over visiting Central-Martinsburg in a matchup of unbeaten Mountain League foes Friday night.

On a night where the lead exchanged hands nine times with one tie, Herrington’s leg proved to be the difference.

The sophomore kicker hit two field goals and was 4-for-4 on extra points, while Central-Martinsburg (2-1) missed two extra points and was 1-for-2 on two-point conversions.

Christian Lezzer had a monster game for the Bison (3-0) rushing for 114 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries while also going 10-for-19 passing for 165 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. He scored on runs of 11, two and 44 yards and threw a 56-yard touchdown pass to Trey Jordan midway through the third quarter that gave Clearfield a 31-27 lead.

But Central-Martinsburg retook the lead 56 seconds into the fourth quarter when Bradi Moore threw a 77-yard touchdown pass to quarterback Aaron Cunningham out of the wildcat formation.

Clearfield was able to rally late thanks to a 20-yard Lezzer to Jordan pass and a 33-yard Tyler Stratton run that ended in Herrington’s second field goal of the game. The sophomore also hit a 21-yard field goal as the first half ran out that gave the Bison a 17-14 halftime lead.

Cunningham had a huge game for the Scarlet Dragons going 7-for-18 passing for 160 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, catching two passes for 149 yards and two scores and rushing 17 times for 29 yards and score. Moore caught five passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns and was 2-for-2 passing for 149 yards and two scores.

KARNS CITY 20, MONITEAU 7

WEST SUNBURY – Tyler Kepple threw three touchdowns passes to lead Karns City to a 20-7 win at rival Moniteau Friday night.

Kepple hit Tristan Rhoades with a pair of scoring strikes and then found Adam Whited on a 6-yard strike late in the fourth quarter capping a 95-yard, game-putting away drive for the Gremlins (2-1 overall, 2-0 KSAC Big School Division). Kepple finished the night 6-for-10 for 137 yards. Rhoades had two catches for 65 yards and the two scores while running seven times for 47 yards.

Moniteau’s lone touchdown, which gave the Warriors (0-3, 0-1) a 7-0 lead in the second quarter came on an 11-yard Dustin Geagan run. Geagan ran 30 times for 150 yards.

The Warriors had a chance to tie the game in the fourth quarter, and even looked to have scored a touchdown on a quarterback sneak by Denny Pry. But a formation penalty called the score back, and Moniteau turned the ball over on downs before allowing Karns City the long drive that put the game away.

JOHNSONBURG 22, COUDERSPORT 14

COUDERSPORT – Behind three touchdown passes from Frank Kocjancic, visiting Johnsonburg stunned Coudersport 22-14 Friday night for the Rams first win in nearly two years.

Johnsonburg (1-2 overall, 1-2 AML South), which had dropped 16 straight decisions since a win over Ridgway Oct. 8, 2010, beat Coudersport for the first time since 1991. The Rams had dropped 14 consecutive decisions to the Falcons.

Kocjancic played a big role in the victory going 14-for-19 for 220 yards and the three scores. That helped Johnsonburg overcome a dismal performance on the ground that saw the Rams lose 30 yards on 17 carries.

Mitchell Holmberg, Caleb Gravey and Kyle Sheldon each caught scoring passes for Johnsonburg.

Coudersport (1-2, 1-2 AML North) got a pair of touchdown runs from Mitch Freeman, who finished with 108 yards on 20 carries.

A-C VALLEY 46, CLARION-LIMESTONE 0

FOXBURG – Behind three Kevin Kaufman touchdown passes, A-C Valley won a conference game for the first time since 2005 with a 46-0 win over visiting Clarion-Limestone Friday night.

Kaufman was 9 of 20 passing for 186 yards and hit Anthony Painter, Greg Elliott and Andrew Strauser with scoring passes to give the Falcons (1-2) their first conference win since a 26-13 win over Union Oct. 7, 2005. A-C Valley had lost 46 straight conference games and had been 4-77 in KSAC/KSAC Small School Division play since the start of the 2001 season. The win was the first conference win for the Falcons over a team other than Union since late Oct. 27, 2000, when A-C Valley beat Moniteau. It was also A-C Valley’s first win over C-L since a 40-10 win Oct. 22, 1999, ending a 12-game losing streak to the Lions.

A-C Valley (1-2 overall, 1-1 KSAC Small School) led 13-0 at the half before pulling away in the second 24 minutes.

C-L, which has been outscored 186-12 on the season, falls to 0-3 overall and 0-2 KSAC Small School Division.

BROOKVILLE 19, ST. MARYS 15

BROOKVILLE – Sophomore Braiden Smith's 90-yard punt return with 3:07 left in the game lifted the Brookville Raiders to a 19-15 win over St. Marys Friday night.

The Raiders (2-1) overcame a 15-7 deficit going into the fourth quarter. Quarterback Cameron Yard's 1-yard run cut the Dutch's lead to 15-13, but the Raiders misfired on a potential game-tying two- point conversion when Yard was dropped for a loss on a run.

A key holding penalty on St. Marys (1-2) helped the Raiders force the Dutch to punt away to Smith, who initially muffed the punt, but recovered in time to race down the left side of the field for the score.

St. Marys outgained Brookville, 283-191. Alex Feldbauer rushed for

149 yards on 28 carries and scored the Dutch's first touchdown on a 3- yard run. Cody Baker returned to the St. Marys backfield and gained

94 yards on 11 carries. He scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter. The Dutch also notched a safety in the first quarter to build a 9-0 lead when a bad punt snap wound up in the end zone.
