SHEFFIELD 31, COUDERSPORT 30

SHEFFIELD – Backup quarterback Adam Higby’s touchdown pass to Brendan Winslow with 22 seconds left gave Sheffield its first win over Coudersport since 1973, 31-30, Saturday afternoon in Sheffield.

A 55-yard wide-receiver pass from Shaquan Wright, the starting quarterback who was playing wide receiver at the time, to Winslow on fourth-and-19 from the Sheffield 33-yard line set up the game-winning score.

The Wolverines (2-3 overall, 2-3 AML North) trailed 22-19 going to the fourth quarter but rallied for the victory breaking a 25-game losing streak to the Falcons (1-4, 1-4).

Wright finished the day 11 of 21 passing for 200 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while also catching three passes for 85 yards and two scores. Higby, who comes in for some series during games with Wright shifting to wide out, got hot in the second half and finished 8-for-14 passing for 131 yards and three touchdowns. Winslow caught six passes for 102 yards and a score, picked off a pass on defense and also recovered the kickoff after Coudersport failed to do so following the final score to seal the victory.
