Matt Bodamer’s fantastic, record-setting senior
season has been capped with one of the most prestigious awards given to
a high school football player in Pennsylvania, as the Port Allegany
quarterback has been named the Pennsylvania Football News’ Mister
Football. Bodamer, who became the first player in state
history to throw for over 10,000 career yards, joins an illustrious list
of PFN Mister Footballs since the award started in 2007 including
current Oakland Raider quarterback Terrell Pryor of Jeannette (2007),
Zach Barket of Schuylkill Haven (2008), Kyle Smith of Lancaster Catholic
(2009), Brendan Nosovitch of Allentown Central Catholic (2010) and Noah
Spence of Bishop McDevitt (2011). The PFN’s Class A Offensive Player of the Year and
a first-team PFN All-State and Pennsylvania Sports Writers All-State
selection at quarterback, Bodamer, who was The Rehab Centre D9Sports.com
District 9 MVP and Offensive Player of the Year, set the Pennsylvania
single-season passing record this past season with 3,951 yards while
tying the state’s single-season passing touchdown mark with 52. He added
832 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns while helping the Gators to a
school-record 13 wins (13-1) and the school’s first trip to the PIAA
Class A semifinals. In his career, Bodamer threw for a state-record
10,948 yards and a state-record 137 touchdowns while also rushing for
over 2,000 yards in his career. In earning the 2012 honor, Bodamer beat out such
illustrious players as Clairton’s Tyler Boyd, North Allegheny’s Mack
Leftwich, Erie Cathedral Prep’s Damien Terry and Bishop McDevitt’s Brian
Lemelle. |
