PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Shooting a blistering second-round score of 77, Hayden Siegel of Clarion-Limestone went from seventh place after round one to win the District 9 Class 2A individual golf title Saturday at Punxsutawney Country Club.

Bradford’s Spencer Cornelius captured the Class 3A crown.
Siegel, the first C-L golfer to ever win a D9 title, was in a tie for seventh place after the first round was played Monday at Punxsutawney Country Club shooting an 84 in the first round.
But Saturday, the junior found his game shooting a 77, the best round on the day by four strokes to win the championship with a combined two-day total of 161 one shot better than Smethport’s Connor Alfieri (162 – 78/84).
Cornelius breezed to the 3A championship shooting an 81 Saturday after carding a 77 Monday giving him a two-round total of 158, 21 strokes ahead of second-place finisher Kaleb Hand of DuBois (179 – 90/89).
Cornelius and Hand both qualify for the West Individual Region set for Oct. 15 at Tom’s Run Golf Course at Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort in Blairsville, Pa.

The additional 2A qualifiers were Punxsutawney’s Ryan Roberts (163 – 82/81), Kane’s Curt Barner (164 – 78/86), Punxsutawney’s Zack Vanleer (165 – 82/83) and Elk County Catholic’s Will Uberti (170 – 84/86).
