COUDERSPORT 44, KANE 43

JOHNSONBURG – Macy Gleason’s runner from the right wing with eight seconds remaining finished off a come-from-behind victory for the Coudersport Lady Falcons Friday night over the Kane Lady Wolves 44-43 in the opening round of the Johnsonburg Tip-Off Tournament.

Kane jumped out to an early 16-4 lead after the first quarter of play.

Coudersport started clawing their way back into the contest at the start of the second quarter by going on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 16-10 before going into halftime trailing only 24-16.

Coudersport started off hot again at the beginning of the third quarter by scoring the first eight points, tying the game at 24-24.  Kane would rally and extend its lead back to 29-24 before Coudy rallied and trailed only 33-32 going into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Falcons would take their first lead of the game at the 6:26 mark of the final quarter, 34-33. From there the lead would go back and forth with the Lady Wolves taking a 43-42 lead with twenty six seconds left, setting up Gleason’s heroics.

Liz Burd led Coudersport (1-0, 0-0 NTL) with 12 points. Gleason, Allison Eaton and Emily Morey scored 8 points each for the winners.
Kane (1-2 , 1-1 AML) was led by Camryn Cummings and Taylor Morgan, both scoring a game high 15 points each. Sydney Dyne added 7 points.

Kane will now play the St. Marys Lady Dutch Saturday afternoon in the consolation game beginning at 3:30 pm. Coudersport will play host Johnsonburg at 5 pm for the tournament title.  No game was played between St. Marys and Johnsonburg because the St. Marys Area School District cancelled school Friday due to the weather.  The consolation and championship game participants were determined by tournament officials regarding the two schools.

REDBANK VALLEY 58, UNION 43

RIMERSBURG, Pa. – Redbank Valley used an 18-point third-quarter advantage to erase a 2-point halftime deficit and get a 58-43 win over upstart Union in KSAC South girls’ basketball action Friday night at Union.

The Lady Bulldogs trailed the Golden Damsels 21-19 at halftime despite starting the game on an 8-0 run. But Redbank Valley outscored Union 24-6 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

Brooke Hinderliter led the Lady Bulldogs with 20 points while adding 12 rebounds, six blocked shots and five steals.

Kaelyn Gruver added 10 points and nine rebounds for Redbank, while Becca Dougherty had 12 points and seven boards and Cassie Fink 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Shaley Shick matched Hinderliter for game-high honors with 20 points to lead Union, while Tabby Dietz had 10.

Redbank Valley outrebounded Union 53-22 in the game.
