CLARION 60, NORTH CLARION 43

KANE, Pa. – Maci Thornton poured in a game-high 25 points to lead Clarion to a 50-43 win over North Clarion in the championship game of the Kane Tournament Saturday night.

Thornton nailed seven shots, including a pair of 3-pointers, and also went 9 of 10 from the free-throw line to give the Lady Cats a non-conference win over their KSAC North foe.

Abbie Schmader and Tori Obenrader each had double-doubles for North Clarion with Schmader scoring a team-best 15 points to go with 15 rebounds and Obenrader adding 14 points and 11 boards.

Clarion jumped out to a 10-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 20-12 at halftime before expanding the lead to 34-22 going to the fourth quarter. North Clarion won the final frame 21-16.

Anna Reed added eight points and Julie Kenneson seven for the Lady Cats who were 20 of 31 from the free-throw line compared to 6 of 14 for North Clarion.

KANE 50, EISENHOWER 49

KANE, Pa. – Behind 14 points and 13 rebounds from Trinity Clark, Kane held off visiting Eisenhower, 50-49, in the consolation game of the Kane Tournament Saturday.

“It was another hard-fought win,” Kane head coach Dave Kiehl said. “I’m proud of our girls, the way they were able to step up and play tough tonight after a very disapointing second half last night. Both teams played hard and played well. It was a good game for the fans to watch. Our first holiday tournament turned out very well. All of the games were competitive and well attended.

Taylor Morgan added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Wolves and was named to the All-Tournament team, while Camryn Cummings chipped in 10 points and Emily Truden eight.
