District 9 Baseball/Softball Titles to be Decided this Week; Weather Could Change Schedule

DUBOIS, Pa. – If you are a fan of District 9 baseball and softball, DuBois is the place for you this week with a number of District and sub-regional games being played either at Showers Field (baseball) or Heindl Field (softball) Tuesday through Wednesday.

While games are scheduled each of those days, Mother Nature could also play a factor in what happens. Thunderstorms are expected each day, and while both fields are all-turf facilities, District 9 baseball chairman Dave Osborne has warned that changes to the baseball schedule could come as soon as Tuesday.

As of Monday night, though, no changes had been made and the schedule was as follows:

BASEBALL

Tuesday, May 28  

Class 2A Title Game: Coudersport vs. Moniteau, 4 p.m. at Showers Field
Class 1A Title Game: Otto-Eldred vs. Elk County Catholic, 6:30 p.m. at Showers Field

Wednesday, May 29

Class 4A Title Game: Clearfield vs. Punxsutawney, 4 p.m. at Showers Field
Class 3A Sub-Regional Title Game with District 5: Brookville vs. Bedford, 4:30 p.m. at Kuntz Field in Punxsutawney
Class 2A Sub-Regional Second Place Semifinal: Coudersport/Moniteau loser vs. loser of District 6 title game between West Shamokin and Bishop Guilfoyle, After Class 4A Title Game at Showers Field

Thursday, May 30

Class 2A Sub-Regional Second Place Championship: Winner of game between Coudersport/Moniteau loser vs. West Shamokin/Bishop Guilfoyle Loser vs. loser of District 4 title game between South Williamsport and Sayre – TBA at either Showers Field (if District 9 teams wins Second Place Semifinal game) or a District 6 site (if District 6 team wins Second Place Semifinal game)

SOFTBALL

Wednesday, May 29

Class 1A Consolation Game: Otto-Eldred vs. A-C Valley, 2 p.m. at Heindl Field
Class 3A Championship Game: Karns City vs. Clearfield, 4 p.m. at Heindl Field
Class 1A Championship Game: Clarion vs. DuBois Central Catholic, 6 p.m. at Heindl Field

Thursday, May 30

Class 2A Championship Game: Cranberry vs. Redbank Valley, 4 p.m. at Heindl Field
Class 1A True Second Place Game (If needed): If the winner of Consolation game did not play the loser of the championship game in semifinals then this game will take place tentatively May 30

Note: Any changes to the schedule will be made by the District 9 baseball and softball chairman in consultation with the schools involved. Changes will then be sent to D9Sports.com, and changes will be made available when they are received on D9Sports.com.
