District 9 Releases 2019 Football Playoff Brackets

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – District 9 released its 2019 football playoff brackets Sunday.

In Class 1A and Class 2A there are District 9-centric tournaments, while the Class 3A bracket is a subregional tournament that also includes District 5 and District 8 (Pittsburgh City League) and the Class 4A bracket is a subregional tournament that also includes District 6. There is one District 9 team entered in each of the Class 3A and Class 4A brackets.

Five teams entered in Class 1A, six in Class 2A, four in Class 3A and three in Class 4A, and there will be five games the weekend of Nov. 1-2 including three quarterfinal contests and three semifinal games.

Top seeds include Coudersport in Class 1A, Ridgway in Class 2A, Bedford in Class 3A and Bellefonte in Class 4A.

Games this coming weekend include a Class 1A quarterfinal contest with Smethport playing Elk County Catholic at St. Marys High School’s Dutch Country Stadium, the home stadium of ECC, two Class 2A quarterfinals games including Kane at Brookville and Karns City at Keystone, two Class 3A semifinal contests including Somerset at Bedford at St. Marys at Westingtonhouse at Cupples Stadium in Pittsburgh and one Class 1A semifinal contest with Juniata travelling to Clearfield.

All games are officially at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1.

Teams will byes this coming weekend include top-seeded Coudersport as well as second-seeded Redbank Valley and third-seeded Union/A-C Valley in Class 1A, top-seeded Ridgway and second-seeded Clarion in Class 2A and top-seeded Bellefonte in Class 4A. Those teams will all be in action the weekend of Nov. 8-9 at sites, times and dates to be announced.
