CLARION, Pa.- Tune in Saturday to Laurel Eye Clinic Hoops on exploreClarion.com and exploreJeffersonPA.com for District 9 Championship Saturday, March 4.

Listen to the games live on exploreClarion.com and exploreJeffersonPA.com or by downloading the Explore Radio app for Apple and Android.

All five games, including four District 9 title games, will be broadcast live starting at 12:30 p.m. with the Class 2A boys’ consolation game and continuing through the 7:15 p.m. Class 2A boys’ title game.

The day will start with Clarion-Limestone and Ridgway meeting in the 2A boys’ consy game at 12:30 p.m. (airtime will be Noon). This is a winner-moves-on-loser-goes-home-contest.

Following that game, at approximately 2 p.m. a school that has never won a District 9 girls’ championship will take home the hardware when North Clarion meets Otto-Eldred in the Class 1A title game. The She-Wolves last were in the championship game in 1986 losing to Union in overtime, while Otto-Eldred is making its first-ever appearance in a D9 title game.

At approximately 3:45 p.m. Elk County Catholic looks for its second straight D9 title when it battles Elk County rival Johnsonburg, who is back in the championship game for the first time since winning the D9 title and finishing second in the state in 2013, in the Class 1A boys’ title contest.

The girls’ Class 2A championship game will follow at approximately 5:30 p.m. with Coudersport, whose last title came in 2011 in Class 1A, taking on Kane, which has never won a D9 title and was last in the championship game in 2A in 2013 losing to Brookville.

The day will wrap up at approximately 7:15 p.m. with the Class 2A boys’ title tilt between Brockway and Coudersport. The Rovers lost last year’s 2A title game to Kane, 39-31, and are looking for their first title since 2013, while Coudersport fell in the 1A championship game a year ago to ECC and is searching for its first championship since taking home 1A in 2008.
