BASEBALL

BRADFORD 5, OTTO-ELDRED 3

BRADFORD, Pa. – Bradford used a three-run sixth inning to knock off visiting Otto-Eldred, 5-3.

The Owls trailed 3-2 going to the sixth before an Adam Cary single scored two to put Bradford in front. Tyler Gigliotti then added a base hit to drive in an insurance run.

Cary was 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs.

Andrew Sheeler had a pair of RBIs for Otto-Eldred.

Peyton Manning got the win in relief going four innings allowing three unearned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out seven. Patrick Caskey started and went three scoreless allowing two hits while striking out three.

Chase Sebastian took the loss going six innings allowing five runs, four earned, on eight hits and two walks while striking out four.

SMETHPORT 6, KANE 1, 4 INNINGS

KANE, Pa. – Bailey Kinner had a pair of RBIs and Noah Costa scored twice to lift visiting Smethport to a 6-1 win over Kane in a game halted after four innings before of rain.

Costa was 1-for-2 with a double to lead the way for the Hubbers.

Ty Stahli scored Kane’s run.

Matt Stratton got the win going three innings allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out three.

Austin Jordan took the loss going four innings allowing five runs, three earned, on five hits and a walk while striking out four.

CLARION 15, BROCKWAY 5, 6 INNINGS

SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. – Spencer Miller doubled, tripled and scored a run, and Skylar Rhoades had four RBIs, as Clarion beat visiting Brockway, 15-5 in five innings.

Rhoades was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored, while Reed Anthony was 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs.

Josh Craig and Dominic Fleming also drove in a pair of runs for Clarion, which will be the No. 1 seed in the District 9/10 Class 1A playoffs. Josh Craig was 2-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored, and Fleming doubled and scored a run. Kyle Patterson also added a double, two walks and two runs scored, while Ryan Anthony had a single, an RBI and three runs scored and Sterling Conner walked three times and scored twice.

Matthew Clark was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Brockway, while Andrew Trunzo also doubled, drove in a run and scored a run.

Rhoades got the win going three innings allowing four runs on two hits and four walks while striking out six. Conner picked up the save going three innings allowing an unearned run on two hits while striking out four.

Tyler Serafini, one of six pitchers used by Brockway, which will be the No. 6 seed in the Class 2A playoffs, took the loss giving up seven unearned runs in the first inning on four hits and a walk.

KARNS CITY 10, REDBANK VALLEY 4

BUTLER, Pa. – Colton Hutchinson was one of five Karns City hitters with multiple-hit games going 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, as the Gremlins beat visiting Redbank Valley, 10-4, at Kelly Automotive Park in Butler.

Tyler Yough was 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs for Karns City, while Cullen Williams and Jace Ebbitt also both tripled. Williams was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, and Ebbitt was 2-for-2 with a run scored and three RBIs. Markus Lantz was also 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Gremlins, who will meet Moniteau in the District 5/9 semifinals Wednesday at Kelly Automotive Park.

Bryan Layton was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs for Redbank Valley, who is the third seed in the District 9 Class 2A playoffs, while Scott Toth 2-for-3 and Cameron Travis was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Yough got the win allowing four runs, two earned, on seven hits while striking out five in seven innings of work.

Blainey Brooks took the loss going six innings allowing 10 runs, nine earned, on 12 hits and two walks.

SOFTBALL

MONITEAU 6, FRANKLIN 1

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Six of Moniteau’s 10 hits went for extra bases, as the Lady Warriors downed visiting Franklin, 6-1.

Kristina DeMatteis and Gabby Stewart both hit home runs, while Cortney Claypoole tripled, Megan Hepler added a pair of doubles and Kennedy DeMatteis also had a double.

Claypoole was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, Stewart was 1-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, Hepler was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, Kennedy DeMatteis was 1-for-4 with an RBI and Kristina DeMatteis was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Gracie Stryffeler was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored for Franklin, which is next in action in the District 10 playoffs.

Kennedy DeMatteis got the win for Moniteau, the top seed in the District 9 Class 2A playoffs, allowing one run on six hits and two walks while striking out 10.

Stryffeler took the loss allowing six runs, five earned, on 10 hits and a walk while striking out four.

CLARION 17, BROCKWAY 2, 3 INNINGS

CLARION. Pa. – Maya Thornton and Kate Constantino both hit home runs to lead Clarion to a 17-2, three-inning win over visiting Brockway.

Thornton 2-for-3 on the day with two runs scored and three RBIs, while Kate Constantino went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs.

Alexis Constantino and Sadie Rudesyle both added triples for Clarion, which is the No. 6 seed in the District 9 Class 1A playoffs. Alexis Constantino was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs with Rudesyle going 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

MacKenzie Ditullio chipped in by going 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs, while Cora Zerfoss was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Sydney Kiser 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Kacie Raybuck and Janel Grecco had RBIs for Brockway.

Kate Constantino picked up the victory going three innings allowing two runs on two hits and six walks while striking out three.

Kayla Dowdall took the loss going two innings allowing 17 runs, 13 earned, on 16 hits.

REDBANK VALLEY 7, KARNS CITY 0, 4 ½ INNINGS

CHICORA, Pa. – In a game halted after 4 ½ innings by rain, Alyssa Burkett allowed just two hits in four innings of work to lead Redbank Valley to a 7-0 win over Karns City.

Burkett helped herself by going 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs, and Kara Hicks also drove in two for the Lady Bulldogs, who are the fourth seed in the D9 Class 2A playoffs, while Becca Kunselman was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Sami Leasure was also 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Emily Wolfe and Kate Allen had the hits for Karns City, which will play in the District 5-9 subregional title game.

Makenzie Shay took the loss going three innings allowing five runs, four earned, on eight hits and a walk while striking out one. Logan Byers pitched two innings allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits while striking out one.

CLEARFIELD 7, BRADFORD 6

HYDE, Pa. – Molly Sartin scored the game-winning run on an error off a ball hit by Karly Rumsky, and Clearfield rallied with two runs in the seventh to walk off Bradford, 7-6.

The Lady Owls had grabbed a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh on a Samantha Gross single. But in the bottom of the inning, Sartin doubled home Kyra Mollura to tie the game before scoring the winning run.

Sartin’s double was one of five doubles on the day for the Lady Bison. Erica Hanes, Makayla Ross, Makeeli Redden and Mollura also had two-baggers.

Ross was 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Aspen Bishop was also 3-for-4. Hanes was 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI.

Makenzie Smith paced Bradford going 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs. Emily Warner was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, and Makenzee Maley was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Abby Fedder got the win going seven innings allowing six runs, two earned, on eight hits and a walk while striking out 10.

Kaylee Brown took the loss going 6 ⅓ innings allowing seven runs, four earned, on 12 hits and two walks while striking out two.
