May 2, 2019 Baseball Recaps: Park Walk-Off Single Lifts Brookville to Win; ECC wins County To.

BROOKVILLE 3, BROCKWAY 2

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Aaron Park’s line drive to center field drove in Dane Lyle as Brookville earned a 3-2 walk-off victory over visiting Brockway.

Brockway had tied the game at two in the top of the seventh on a Ben Glasl two-out single to center.

Park went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Raiders offense. Jace Miner had a pair of hits and a run scored while Lyle went 1-for-2 with the winning run scored. Tanner LaBenne and Cole LaBenne each had singles.

Glasl and Santino Inzana each singled and drove in a run for the Rovers. Glasl and Conner Ford each had a run scored.

Seth Dunkle earned the win for Brookville. Park started the game on the mound striking out 10 batters while allowing one hit in six innings.

Inzana struck out five while giving up three runs on five hits in the loss for Brockway.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 9, ST. MARYS 5

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Dan Wimer went 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead Elk County Catholic to a 9-5 win over St. Marys in the title game of the Elk County Tournament at Berwind Park in St. Marys.

Alec Wehler also drove in a pair of runs for the Crusaders going 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored, whileHunter Cashmer was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Also for ECC, Brennen Klawuhn was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, Ryan Fritz was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Tylor Herzing was 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI and Will Uberti had a double, a run scored and an RBI.

Brandon Sicheri was 3-for-3 with a walk and an RBI for St. Marys with Connor Bressler going 2-for-2 with three runs scored and Jake Meeker going 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs.

Taylor Boland got the win working five innings allowing three runs, all earned, on four hits, a hit batter and four walks while striking out two.

Sicheri took the loss pitching six innings allowing seven runs, six earned, on 13 hits while striking out three.

COUDERSPORT 7, JOHNSONBURG 3

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Kolby VanWhy hit a three-run home run to help Coudersport defeat Johnsonburg, 7-3, in the consolation game of the Elk County Catholic Tournament in St. Marys.

Jackson Glover went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and run scored for the Falcons while Eli Ayers went 2-for-3 including a double and two runs scored. Kullen Crosby doubled and Hunter Redman drove in two runs while going 2-for-3.

Camron Marciniak went 3-for-4 to pace the Rams offense. Ethan Wells, Austin Green and Paul Gresco each had a pair of hits and run scored.

Blake Burgett got the win for Coudersport striking out four batters while giving up 10 hits and three runs, two unearned.

Green had three strikeouts and gave up 10 hits and seven runs in the loss for Johnsonburg.

CLARION 8, CRANBERRY 1

CLARION, Pa. – Cole Slaugenhaup went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a pair of RBIs to help Clarion defeat visiting Cranberry, 8-1.

Nate Datko went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for the Bobcats, while Skylar Rhoades singled with a run scored and an RBI. Ryan Alston, Christian Simko and Noah Ditulio each had singles.

Trevor Gladin and David Mullen each had singles to pace the Berries while Gladin drove in the lone run scored by Brandon Forrest.

Datko earned the win for Clarion with a strikeout and one run allowed on two hits in four innings on the mound. Lake Staub finished the game and earned the save striking out four.

Gladin had five strikeouts but gave up eight runs on six hits in the loss for Cranberry.

ALTOONA 24, PUNXSUTAWNEY 5, 5 INNINGS

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Altoona used a 10-run first inning to earn a 24-5, five-inning victory over Punxsutawney.

Ian Yon went 3-for-4 including a home run, a double, two runs scored and four RBIs for the Mountain Lions while Jake DeRubeis went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Jake Hunter and Trevor Monley each had a pair of hits while Matt Hartman doubled and went 2-for-2 with a run scored.

Alec Greenblatt went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI to pace the Chucks. Ike Knarr doubled and scored a run while Adison Neal and Andrew Britton each hit singles and scored a run.

Yon got the win for Altoona striking out six batters while allowing one hit and no runs in three innings of work.

SMETHPORT 15, GALETON 0, 3 INNINGS

SMETHPORT, Pa. – Alex Ognen and Nate Hollowell each drove in three runs, as Smethport rolled past visiting Galeton, 15-0 in three innings.

Ognen was 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored, while Hollowell was 2-for-2 with a double, a walk and two runs scored.

Noah Lent also doubled for the Hubbers while going 1-for-1 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored, Bryent Johnson and Grant Ognen were both 1-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored and two RBIs and Noah Costa was 2-for-3 with two runs scored

Grant Ognen got the win going 2 ⅓ innings allowing a hit and a walk while striking out two. Brandon Higley recorded two outs while allowing a hit.
