Oct. 29 soccer playoffs: Coudy, ECC advance

Class A Boys’ Soccer

Coudersport 3, DuBois Central Catholic 2, 2 OT

Coudersport, Pa. – Owen Chambers scored 17 seconds into the second overtime to give the fourth-seeded Coudersport Falcons a 3-2 win over fifth-seeded DuBois Central Catholic in a Class A first-round game moved from Wednesday.

The game went into extra time thanks to a flurry of action at the end of regulation. Austen Cogley gave the Cardinals a 2-1 lead with 33 seconds left, but the Falcons’ Justin Andrus found the net with just two-tenths of a second remaining to force overtime.

Earlier, both teams scored in the first half, Nick Szczerba first for the Cardinals and then David Kudrick for the Falcons.

Coudersport (11-4) advances to next week’s semifinals against top-seeded and unbeaten Brockway at a site and time to be announced.

Elk County Catholic 1, Port Allegany 0, OT

Kersey, Pa. — Valentyn Wolfe’s goal in the first overtime lifted the third-seeded Elk County Catholic Crusaders to a win over sixth-seeded Port Allegany in a first-round matchup that was moved from Wednesday night due to weather.

The Crusaders (14-3) now meet No. 2 seed Karns City next week at site and time to be announced.

The Gators finished up at 10-9.
