BLAIRSVILLE, Pa. – Three District 9 golfers – one in boys’ Class AA, one in girls’ Class AA and one in boys’ Class AAA – qualified for the PIAA Championships during the Regional championships played Monday at Tom’s Run Golf Course at the Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort and Conference Center in Blairsville.
In Class AA boys’ action, District 9 runner-up Jared Bish carded an 81 to finish 13th in the Western Regional, while Ridgway’s Mitchell Stark fell in a playoff for the final qualifying spot after shooting an 87 over 18 holes.
Girls’ Class AA saw District 9 champion Amber Hess overcome a 12 on the Par 5 fourth hole to finish fourth with an 86, while Brookville’s Ealina Powell missed the cut by one stroke.
In Class AAA boys, Bradford’s Mitch Faulker shot a 77 to finish seventh.
The three golfers now move onto the PIAA Golf Championships which will be held Oct. 26-28 at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York.
