CLASS A FIRST ROUND
Coudersport 3, Keystone 0
COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Fourth-seeded Coudersport made quick work of Keystone with a 3-0 (25-15, 26-24, 25-15).
Ally Easton paced the Lady Falcons with 13 kills, while Kiara Perkins had 10 kills and four aces and Macey Gleason six kills, three aces and 18 digs. Haley Keck (15 assists) and Emily Morey (18 assists) ran the two-setter offense for Coudy, which also got 31 digs from Joplin Osgood.
Coudersport will host rival Otto-Eldred in the quarterfinals at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The teams split their two regular-season matches.
Redbank Valley 3, North Clarion 0
NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Third-seeded Redbank Valley beat North Clairon 3-0 (27-25, 25-17, 25-18) in the opening round of the District 9 Class A volleyball playoffs Tuesday night at Redbank Valley.
Becca Dougherty led Redbank Valley with 16 kills, four digs and an ace. Suzie Gourley had 10 kills, two aces, two digs and two assists. Emilee Kunselman had 30 assists, two aces and two digs.
Redbank Valley will get a rematch with sixth-seeded Clarion in the quarterfinals at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Redbank Valley. The Lady Cats handed Redbank Valley one of its loses a couple of weeks ago.
Otto-Eldred 3, Curwensville 0
DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Fifth-seeded Otto-Eldred continued its strong late-season play with a 3-0 win over 12th-seeded Curwensville Tuesday.
Emily Smith had 22 assists and four aces to lead the charge for the Lady Terrors, who won by scores of 25-11, 25-11 and 25-21.
Allison Cousins paced the offense with nine kills and six aces, while Joslynn Veilleux had 12 digs to lead the defensive effort.
Otto-Eldred will now get a rematch with Coudersport in the quarterfinals traveling to Coudy for a 6:30 p.m. game Thursday. The teams split their regular-season North Tier matches.
Smethport 3, Ridgway 1
SMETHPORT, Pa. – After dropping the first set 25-13 to visiting Ridgway, eighth-seeded Smethport rallied to win the next three sets to take a 3-1 victory from the ninth-seeded Lady Elkers.
The second set was a tight one before the Lady Hubbers won 25-22. They then took the next two sets more easily by scores of 25-15 and 25-11.
Katie Treat had 20 kills and nine blocks to lead Smethport, while Brooke Kane-Walker added 13 kills and Abbey Woodard 10 kills and four blocks. Olivia Goodwill was a force at the next with 11 blocks and also chipped in with four kills, while Meagan DeLuca ran the offense with 34 set assists. Addysin GrossBenjamin paced the Smethport defense with 53 digs.
Smethport will make the long trek to Foxburg to take on the top-seeded A-C Valley Lady Falcons in the quarterfinals at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Elk County Catholic 3, Northern Potter 0
ST. MARYS, Pa. – Behind seven kills, four blocks and eight service points from Reilly Herzing, second-seeded Elk County Catholic beat Northern Potter 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-18).
Mackenzie Gahr added three kills and 11 service points for the Lady Crusaders who will host 10th-seeded Kane, a 3-0 winner over Union, in the quarterfinals at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Clarion 3, Cranberry 0
CLARION, Pa. – Sixth-seeded and defending champion Clarion got 26 assists, seven digs and four kills from Gloria Kroh to top Cranberry 3-0.
The Lady Cats won by scores of 25-12, 25-10, 25-15.
Maya Thornton led the Clarion offensive attack with eight kills while chipping in six digs. Olivia Burns had six kills, nine digs and three blocks, while Keanna Over added six kills and eight digs and Anna Reed nine digs.
Clarion will now travel to Redbank Valley for a quarterfinal match at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
A-C Valley 3, Johnsonburg 1
Top-seeded A-C Valley needed four sets to oust 16th-seeded Johnsonburg winning the first two by scores of 25-16 and 25-13 before losing the third set 24-26 and coming back to take the fourth set and the match with a 25-18 win.
Morgan Cratty paced the unbeaten Lady Falcons with 17 kills, 12 digs and three blocks, while Halee Wetzel had five kills, 13 digs and five aces and Alyssa Babcock 21 assists and two kills. Also for A-C Valley, Katie Stumpner had a double-double with 14 kills and 28 digs as did Kirsten Rothen with 13 digs and 17 assists and Josie Terwilliger had 25 digs, nine kills and a pair of blocks.
A-C Valley will host Smethport in a quarterfinal match at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Kane 3, Union 0
RIMERSBURG, Pa. – Tenth-seeded Kane pulled a mild upset knocking off seventh-seeded Union 3-0 (27-25, 27-25, 25-18).
Camryn Cummings led the Lady Wolves with nine kills, while Alyssa Zampogna added four. Ashley Jordan and Marcie Stanisch led the defense with 13 kills each.
CLASS AA SEMIFINALS
Bradford 3, St. Marys 0
BRADFORD, Pa. – Top-seeded Bradford cruised into the District 9 Class AA championship match with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-17) victory over visiting St. Marys, the fourth seed, in the opening (semifinal) round of the District 9 Class AA volleyball playoffs Tuesday night.
The Lady Owls won by scores of 25-13, 25-21, 25-17.
Kamyrn Piscitelli led Bradford with nine kills, while Ashton McGriff had five and Abby Burgess four kills and four blocks. Rachel Borland added five blocks.
Bradford will take on Punxsutawney in the championship match at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Marys High School.
