Twenty-four District 9 players were named All-State Friday by the Pennsylvania Football News including five first-team choices, six second-team selections and 13 honorable mention nods.
The most first-team and total All-State selections came in Class A with four first-team nods and 15 total choices.
The first-team selections from District 9 were Reese Barger of Karns City at Class AA offensive lineman, Clarion-Limestone’s Brady Himes at Class A wide receiver, Jake Shrub of Kane at Class A offensive line, Union’s Dugan Gallagher at Class A defensive back and Kane’s Shane Rolick at Class A defensive back.
Second-team choices included DuBois’ Dante Dawson at Class AAAA wide receiver, Clearfield’s Ryan Lezzer at Class AAA defensive back, St. Marys’ Nick Taylor at Class AA punter, Curwensville’s Quamone Newkirk at Class A wide receiver, Brockway’s Joey Varischetti at Class A offensive line and Brockway’s Mark Latuska at Class A linebacker.
The honorable mention selections in Class AAA were Clearfield linebacker Matt Collins and Bradford punter John Eakin. In Class AA they were Karns City’s Collin Dunmyre at running back, Maverick Kelsea at linebacker and Chandler Turner at defensive back. And in Class A the selections were Curwensville’s Nick Stewart at running back, Clarion’s Alexander Burkhart at offensive line and Colton Rapp at linebacker, Union’s Landon Forrest at offensive line, Redbank Valley’s Wyatt Hetrick at offensive athlete, Brockway’s Jarrett Esposito at kicker and Zach Tyler at defensive line and Kane’s Toby Fox at defensive line.
