EMERSON, Ga. – Enterprise (Ala.) scored three times in the top of the ninth to break a 9-all tie and get a 12-9 win over Punxsutawney Friday on the Chucks spring trip in Georgia.
Punxsutawney led 6-2 after four innings before a six-run fifth lifted the Wildcats to an 8-6 lead.
But the Chucks fought back with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 9-8 lead on a bases loaded walk to Joey DiPietro.
But Enterprise tied the game with a run in the top of the seventh and then plated three in the ninth to get the victory.
Brandon Mathews had a strong game for the Chucks going 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored. Lucas Ambler was also 3-for-5 with a run scored, while Braxton Giavedoni was 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs. Jacob Weaver and Lucas Burkett each scored a pair of runs.
Isaac Stouffer took the loss giving up four runs, three earned, in three innings of work.
Only three of the Wildcats’ 12 runs were earned thanks to five Punxsutawney errors.
The Chucks will take on Poplar Bluff (Mo.) Saturday.
