SOFTBALL
DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 10, SMETHPORT 2
SMETHPORT, Pa. – Jordy Frank was 3-for-4 with a double and a home run to lead visiting DuBois Central Catholic to a 10-2 win over Smethport.
Riley Assalone picked up the win for the Lady Cardinals allowing two runs, one earned, on seven hits while striking out eight.
CAMERON COUNTY 8, PORT ALLEGANY 6
PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Alyvia McKimm’s monster three-run home run to center in the fourth inning broke a 2-all tie and helped Cameron County to an 8-6 win at Port Allegany.
The Lady Raiders ended up scoring four runs in the fourth to take control of the game.
Winning pitcher Laila Smith also helped her own cause by going 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, while Taylor Britton was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Taylor Johnson had an RBI single.
Smith allowed six run on eight hits and a walk while striking out six.
Lauren Dynda led Port Allegany going 2-for-4 with an RBI single. Kierra Keck added an RBI triple, while Autumn Freer had two singles.
Makenzie Burr took the loss. She gave up eight hits and 10 walks while striking out three.
BASEBALL
PUNXSUTAWNEY 7, HOLLIDAYSBURG 2; PUNXSUTAWNEY 10, HOLLIDAYSBURG 8
PUNXUTAWNEY, Pa. – Punxsutawney swept a doubleheader from Hollidaysburg winning the first game 7-2 as the home team then scoring eight times in the top of the seventh before holding off a six-run rally by the Tigers in the bottom of the inning to win Game Two, 10-8.
In Game One, a six-run second was the catalyst for the Chucks victory.
Lance Pennington was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored to lead Punxsy, while John Matthews also drove in two runs and Braxton Giavedoni scored twice.
Peyton Graham got the win going six innings and allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits and two walks while striking out nine.
Game Two was a pitcher’s dual for six innings with the teams tied at two going to the seventh when Punxsutawney seemed to break it open with the eight-run inning.
But Hollidaysburg came right back and scored six in the bottom of the inning to make things interesting.
John Matthews drove home three more runs and was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Lucas Burkett was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Graham was 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored. Giavedoni also had a double and was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI with Dylan Huey picking up a pair of hits, scoring a run and driving in one.
John Matthews got the win going six innings and allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits and two walks while striking out six. Giavedoni pitched one inning giving up six unearned runs on two hits and four walks while a strikeout.
WILLIAMSPORT 7, DUBOIS 1
DUBOIS, Pa. – Despite a pair of Drew Bankovich doubles, DuBois dropped a 7-1 decision to visiting Williamsport.
Bankovich was 2-for-3 on the day, while Zach Sloan was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. The duo had four of the Beavers seven hits.
Nick LaBrasca took the loss going five innings and allowing five runs on four hits and a walk while striking out four.
PORT ALLEGANY 8, CAMERON COUNTY 1
PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Jordan Seefeldt drove in three runs and Mac Tanner had three hits to lead Port Allegany to an 8-1 win over visiting Cameron County.
Seefeldt was 2-for-4 with a double, while Tanner was 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Devin Gustin added a double, a run scored and an RBI, while Dylan Kio was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Tristan Reed was 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored for Cameron County, while Adam Shaffer was 2-for-4. Nate Munsell drove home a run.
Garrett Talkington got the win for Port going six innings and allowing one run on seven hits while striking out nine. Kio pitched the seventh striking out three and giving up a hit.
Shaffer took the loss going five innings allowing seven runs, four earned, on 13 hits and two walks while striking out eight.
CLEARFIELD 7, TYRONE 0
TYRONE, Pa. – Brandon Orsich threw a three-hit shutout to lead visiting Clearfield to a 7-0 win over Tyrone.
Orsich continued his fantastic season by striking out seven and not walking a batter.
Zane Morgan was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and a run scored to lead Clearfield, while
Jonathan Trimpey had three hits and scored twice. Marcus Luzier also had two hits and a run scored.
EISENHOWER 4, JOHNSONBURG 3
RUSSELL, Pa. – Allan Jackson’s walk-off single scored Chase Elmquist, as Eisnehower rallied from a three-run deficit going to the sixth inning to beat Johnsonburg, 4-3.
The Rams took a 3-0 lead with a three-spot in the top of the fifth, but Eisenhower tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth before winning it in the seventh.
Josh Raubenstrauch led Johnsonburg going 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Justin Kasmierski was 1-for-4 with two runs scored.
Casey Vincent and Drake Gons each had two hits for Eisenhower.
Ben Ames took the loss for Johnsonburg in relief of Johnny Mitchell. He gave up one unearned run on three hits in 2/3 of an inning. Mitchell pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up three runs, on earned, on three hits and four walks while striking out seven.
Gons got the win throwing a complete game giving up the three runs, none earned, on eight hits while striking otu seven.
OSWAYO VALLEY 8, ALLEGANY-LIMESTONE 1; OSWAYO VALLEY 8, BOLIVAR-RICHBURG 3
BOLIVAR, N.Y. – brandon Brabham and Gavin Babcock combined on a four-hitter to lead Oswayo Valley to an 8-1 win over Allegany-Limestone in the first game of the Bolivar-Richburg Tournament.
In a game moved from Friday to Saturday because of weather, Brabham went 5 1/3 innings allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out seven. Babcock then finished the game off going 1 2/3 innings allowing one hit while striking out two.
Gage Babcock led the Oswayo offense with an RBI triple.
Cole Davis was 2-for-3 for Allegany-Limestone, while Brad McAfee took the loss going seven innings and allowing eight runs on six hits and five walks while striking out six.
In the second game of the tournament, Oswayo got an 8-3 victory with Garren Black and Brabham combining to allow just five hits.
Black started and went five innings giving up three runs on four hits and four walks while striking out two. Brabham then finished off going two innings giving up a hit and a walk while striking out one.
Black also had a two-run double for the Green Wave, while Gavin Babcock and Dylan Buchholz each had a two-run singles.
Parker Cole took the loss going 2 1/3 innings and giving up six run on five hits and three walks while striking out two.
