SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. – Three of the top five sports in the inaugural D9Sports.com District 9 girls’ basketball Power Rating for the 2017 season belong to KSAC teams.
Moniteau (8-1) holds the top spot with North Clarion (10-0) at No. 2 and Karns City (6-4) at No. 4. Coudersport (9-0) comes in at No. 3 with Punxsutawney (5-3) in at No. 5.
Power ratings are different from rankings in that a power rating the rating is based on current events which means while previous performances and results are taken into consideration they are not the end all be all of how a team is performing in a particular week whereas a ranking is based on a team’s entire body of work. Because the rankings/power ratings are not used to determine playoff positions or seeings in District 9, we have decided to go to a power rating system to better reflect how a team is currently performing.
