Q&A With Emily Treat

D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in?
ET: Softball

D9: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
ET: My favorite memory is playing in a basketball team camp at Houghton the summer before my freshman year, we won a tournament with only five girls, and I was so excited I got to play because Mr. Lutz is my favorite coach.

D9: Why do you play high school sports?
ET :I play high school sports because you can make so many new friends, I love getting to participate in everything I can, meet new people, and learn things you can use for the rest of your life.

D9: Is there a high school player on your team or another team that you enjoy watching play? If so, why?
ET :The person I always loved watching play/playing with is Abbey Woodard, we grew up playing everything together, and you can tell she puts everything she has into whatever she’s doing, and she works for everything she’s earned.

D9: When not playing sports I would rather (pick one) – Go to work, play video games, shop, hang out with friends, play pickup sports, go the movies
ET :Probably hang out with my friends, even though I see them at all of my sports.

D9: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
ET :Australia, I’ve always thought it looked beautiful and I’ve always wanted to go there.

D9: Who has had the most influence on you as a person?
ET :My mom, she’s always taught me how to carry myself in a way that I could be proud of myself for, and she’s always been someone I can look up to, and I hope I can be like her when I’m older.

D9: What do you like most about growing up in your hometown?
ET :I love that it’s not too big, because you have the opportunity to participate in so many things, and everyone is really friendly and nice.

D9: What do you wish you could change about growing up in your hometown?
ET :I wish we had more programs for different sports when we were younger besides softball/baseball and football.

D9: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
ET :Who is my favorite coach and why? Eric Lutz is my basketball coach, and he has been the best coach I could have ever imagined. I am so lucky I have gotten to learn from him, I was a manager for him for two years in junior high, and I’ve played for him since I was a freshman. He made my high school basketball career so much better, and I’m going to miss him next year when I graduate.

D9: Do you or have you had any siblings or other immediate relatives who have played high school sports?
ET :My older cousins played when they were in high school, and my sister Katie, who graduated this year, played volleyball, basketball, and ran track.
