Q&A With Aiden Quinn
D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in and why?
AQ: Football, it is my favorite sport because Kane provides the biggest opportunity and treats every last player as family no matter the skill level. It has also run in the family to play football for multiple generations. I believe it teaches teamwork and has changed more lives than other sports and extracurricular activities.
D9Sports: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
AQ: My favorite memory is when Shane Rolick hurdled over a Curwensville player in the D9 playoffs my freshman year. Also when Seth Berlin scored his 1,000th point last year. Also, my freshman year of football, it was the first game of the season and it was late in the game and we were up big. It was finally my turn to play and all the seniors were yelling and chanting, “ Quinn!, Quinn!, Quinn!”. Then the very next play I got my very first tackle as a Kane Wolf and the sideline went wild.
D9Sports: Why do you play high school sports?
AQ: I believe that I have a weird disease that makes me have to play sports to survive because it makes me become slow and sick if I don’t. It also is what I have dreamt to do my whole entire life.
D9Sports: Who has had the most influence on your athletic career and why?
AQ: My friend Anthony Smith, my father, and coach Todd Silfies. They all have had the most influence because they all were the number one group of people I look up to and strive to be when I am older. My dad has taught me that I have to do what makes me happy no matter what it is, and that’s the reason why sports is an option in my life today. Anthony Smith taught me that no matter what cards you have been dealt, you never give up and you always fight for what you want to be. Last but definitely not least, Coach Silfies taught me how to live life with passion and used football as a tool to make many young men the great human beings they are today.
D9Sports: Do you remember the first sport you played and did you like it right away or did it grow on you?
AQ: T-ball was the first sport I played, I absolutely loved t-ball. Although I was and am small for my age, I had to endure the tee to be put down to the lowest setting and the helmet falling down over my face every time I moved.
D9Sports: Do you have a favorite number for a uniform? If so, what is the story behind that number?
AQ: No. 2 and No. 8 Those numbers are the only numbers I have worn in football and I have had those two since I was 8 years old.
D9Sports: What would someone who doesn’t know you be surprised to find out about you?
AQ: My charisma and my hustle.
D9Sports: If you could eat dinner with anyone famous (living or dead) who would it be and why?
AQ: I would eat dinner with Robin Williams. I chose him because he is one of the funniest kind-hearted people I had ever seen. He also was a very good inspirational talker.
D9Sports: Iphone or Android or Neither and why?
AQ: iphone all the way because it is easier to handle.
D9Sports: What is your go-to Social Media and why?
AQ: Instagram because it ranges from sports to jokes and world issues all within a few scrolls.
D9Sports: What do you like most about high school and why?
AQ: The company of other students.
D9Sports: What do you like least about high school and why?
AQ: The standards and the standardized test that give a student one chance out of 180 days to prove if they know the subject or not.
D9Sports: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
AQ: Is there a sport that I would prefer to play but don’t have the option too. The answer is hockey.
