CLARION, Pa. – A spot in the District 9 Class 1A volleyball championship match is at stake when third-seeded A-C Valley clashes with rival and second-seeded Clarion at 6:30 p.m. Thursday with all the action airing on exploreRadio via exploreClarion.com and D9Sports.com
Airtime for the 6:30 p.m. match will be 6:20 p.m. from Clarion High School with Mike Kalinowski and Chris Rossetti on the call.
Both teams are coming off easy wins Tuesday in the quarterfinals with Clarion picking up a 3-0 win over Otto-Eldred and A-C Valley beating DuBois Central Catholic by the same score.
The teams met at A-C Valley Sept. 24 with Clarion securing a 3-1 (25-18, 24-26, 25-7,25-14) victory behind 21 kills and six digs from Korrin Burns and 14 kills and 17 digs from Kait Constantino. Brenna Campbell ran the offense with 45 set assists. A-C Valley was paced by Meah Ielase, who had seven kills and 10 digs, while Emily Wetzel had 14 set assists.
A-C Valley is 17-2 on the year with Clarion checking in at 14-1.
The winner of this match plays in the title game at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at St. Marys High School against the winner Thursday’s other semifinal pitting Cranberry at Elk County Catholic.
