SHARON — A strong second-half performance led District 10 champion Kennedy Catholic to a 54-37 win over District 9 third-place finisher Elk County Catholic in their PIAA Class A state playoff opener Saturday at Sharon High School.
Kennedy Catholic (23-1) led 28-27 at halftime before outscoring ECC (24-2), 26-10, the rest of the way to advance to Wednesday’s second round matchup with District 6 runner-up Bishop Guilfoyle. BG beat Riverview, 50-28.
Bekah Kish led Kennedy with 15 points while April Bocian finished with 12 points and 17 rebounds.
Kirstie Wehler led the Lady Crusaders with 11 points. Julia Sweeney had seven points.
