April 11, 2018 Softball: Dunn Lifts Karns City Past A-C Valley Powered by Knox Country Farm Supply

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Mackenzie Dunn hit a pair of home runs and drove in five runs, and Alyssa Stitt had two doubles and seven RBIs to lead Karns City to a 20-8, five-inning win over visiting A-C Valley.

Dunn was 2-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored with Stitt going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored.

Katie Neff, Logan Byers and Taylor Ekis each added a pair of RBIs.

Neff was 3-for-4 with four runs scored, Byers 1-for-2 and Ekis 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Emily Wolfe also went 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, four runs scored and an RBI for Karns City with Emily Chiappini and Garrah Milochik each scoring twice.

Cami McNany had four RBIs for A-C Valley going 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and three runs scored. Sydney Rankin was also 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Kelsie Terwilliger added a double.

Makenzie Shay started for Karns City and went three innings allowing eight runs, seven earned, on six hits and four walks while striking out one. Byers finished off going two innings allowing a hit and two walks while striking out two.

Syndi Schmidt took the loss for A-C Valley.

JOHNSONBURG 16, BROCKWAY 1, 4 INNINGS

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Alyssa Kasmierski went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs to lead Johnsonburg to a 16-1, four-inning win over visiting Brockway.

Jordan Bundy added three hits for the Ramettes going 3-for-3 with a walk, three RBIs and a run scored with Jenna Pavlock and Brooke Thomas each added a pair of RBIs with Pavlock going 1-for-4 with a double and two runs scored and Thomas going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Maria Jones, Lindsey Kocjancic, Amanda Williams each had two hits, including a double by Kocjancic, two runs scored and an RBI.

Bundy got the win going four innings allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out two.

Leah Lindemuth had a pair of hits and an RBI for Brockway.

Morgan Lindemuth suffered the loss.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 13, CLEARFIELD 7

HYDE, Pa. – Toya Jones and Holly Hartman each went 3-for-4 to lead Punxsutawney to a 13-7 win at Clearfield.

Jones scored three times and added an RBI while Hartman had two RBIs and a run scored.

Mya Phillips also had a double and two RBIs for the Lady Chucks, while Kylee Lingenfelter was 2-for-4 with three runs scored.

Abby Fedder had a pair of RBIs for Clearfield with Lindsay Hand hitting a solo home run and Brooke Cline and Makayla Ross each picking up a pair of hits including a double by Cline.

Lingenfelter got the win going seven innings allowing seven runs, five earned, on 10 hits and six walks while striking out nine.

Fedder took the loss going four innings allowing eight runs, six earned, on 11 hits while striking out two in four innings of work.

ST. MARYS 10, BROOKVILLE 0, 5 INNINGS

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Maura Fleddermann hit a home run, drove in two runs and threw a five-inning no-hitter to give St. Marys a 10-0 win over visiting Brookville.

Fledderman was 1-for-3 and walked three while striking out 11.

Brianna Grotzinger also hit a home run and drove in four for the Lady Dutch with Micayla Bothun going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Bekka Bauer and Brit Shaw both doubling.

Carlie McManigle took the loss giving up 10 runs, four earned, on nine hits and two walks while striking out six in four innings in the circle for Brookville.

OTTO-ELDRED 14, NORTHERN POTTER 3, 5 INNINGS

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Winning pitcher Alyssa Shelander went 2-for-2 with a home run and four RBIs to lead Otto-Eldred to a 14-3, five-inning win over visiting Northern Potter.

Shelander allowed just one hit in the circle while walking three and striking out four.

Reilly Raught added a 2-for-3 day with a double, a triple and two RBIs for the Lady Terrors with Emily Smith and Britney Greeley also tripling and Autumn Smith doubling.

Katie Cowburn took the loss allowing eight hits and four walks while striking out three.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 19, SHEFFIELD 1, 3 INNINGS; DCC 22, SHEFFIELD 5, 4 INNINGS

DUBOIS, Pa. – DuBois Central Catholic swept a doubleheader from visiting Sheffield winning by scores of 19-1 in three innings and 22-5 in four innings.

In the 22-5 win, Ashley Wruble, Mia Meholick and Jordan Kosko each drove in three runs for DCC.

Wruble was 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple and four runs scored. Meholick was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and three runs scored and Kosko was 2-for-3 with a home run and three runs scored.

Shay Gulvas was also 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, an RBI and four runs scored for the Lady Cardinals.

Emily Leichtenberger and Jerika Dexter had RBI doubles for Sheffield while Mya Grubbs scored twice while Marissa Grubbs had an RBI as well.

Stats from the 19-1 game weren’t available.

DUBOIS 15, BRADFORD 0, 3 INNINGS

DUBOIS, Pa. – Tori Gregory allowed two hit and a walk while striking out one in three innings of work to help DuBois to a 15-0, three-inning win over visiting Bradford.

Alyssa Hardy had a double for Bradford. Emily Warner took the loss.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 15, KANE 0, 4 INNINGS

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Elk County Catholic needed just four innings to beat visiting Kane, 15-0.

No stats were reported.

THREE GAMES SUSPENDED

Three games were suspended in mid-action because of weather.

Redbank Valley and Moniteau were tied at five in the bottom of the second inning at Redbank Valley, Union was beating Keystone, 8-3, in its first-ever game at Keystone after three innings and Clarion was beating Forest Area 7-1 after three innings at Clarion in a game where Forest Area was the home team.

All three of those games will be completed at a later date.
