BASEBALL
OSWAYO VALLEY 9, BRADFORD 2
SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Four different Oswayo Valley batters each collected two hits, as the Green Wave dispatched of visiting Bradford, 9-2, Tuesday afternoon.
Dylan Buchholz led the way for Oswayo Valley going 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Garret Babcock was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, while Gage Babcock was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Brandon Brabham was 2-for-4. Gavin Babcock also drove in a pair of runs.
Bradford led 1-0 after a half inning, but Oswayo scored twice in the first and three times in the second to open up a 5-1 lead. The Owls got a run back in the third, but a four-run sixth by the Green Wave put the game away.
Andrew Bacha was 2-for-3 with Bradford, while Bryce Skaggs was 2-for-4 and Issac Graylack had a double and an RBI.
Three pitchers threw for Oswayo.
Brabham went three innings giving up two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out two. Garren Black got the win throwing three innings allowing one hit and two walks while striking out four, and Buchholz threw a scoreless seventh allowing a hit and a walk while striking out one.
Danny Manion took the loss for Bradford allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out two in two innings. Kyle Kirk went the final four innings allowing four runs on five hits and five walks.
Oswayo is now 3-0 on the year, while Bradford falls to a 2-2.
MONITEAU 11, UNION 1, 6 INNINGS
WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – JJ Waid drove in five runs while going 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored to lead Moniteau to an 11-1, six-inning win over visiting Union.
Jake Jewart scored three runs for the Warriors while drawing three walks on the day, while Zack Adamson was 1-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Aaron Marterella added a double, an RBI and a run scored, and Wyatt Geibel was 1-for-2 with triple, an RBI and a run scored.
Dugan Gallagher paced Union going 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Lucas Bowser was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Jewart got the win giving up one run, it was earned, on four hits and two walks while striking out five in six innings of work.
Moniteau is now 4-0 on the season, while Union falls to 0-3.
PUNXSUTAWNEY 10, BROOKVILLE 0, 6 INNINGS
PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Lucas Burkett and Brandon Matthews each had three hits to lead a 12-hit attack for Punxsutawney in a 10-0, 6-inning win over Brookville in Punxsutawney with Brookville as the home team.
Burkett was on base four times going 3-for-4 with a walk and an RBI (courtesy runner Jacob Weaver scored twice), while Brandon Matthews was also on base four times going 3-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and two RBIs.
Braxton Giavedoni came off the bench to go 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored, while John Matthews was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Brookville managed just two hits with Tanner LeBenne and Ben Caun each getting base knocks.
John Matthews started and got the win going five innings allowing one hit while striking out seven. Weaver finished off throwing a scoreless sixth allowing a hit.
Wyatt Shaffer took the loss going two innings and allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits and a walk while striking out one. Jordan Tosh (2 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 1 ER), Dane Lyle (1 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 Ks) and Ben Caun (1 IP, 1 h, 1 r, 2 BB, 1 K) also pitched for the Raiders.
Punxsutawney is now 5-2 on the year, while Brookville falls to 1-3.
SOFTBALL
JOHNSONBURG 18, KANE 11
KANE, Pa. – In an old-fashioned slugfest that saw each team score in five of the seven innings, visiting Johnsonburg outlasted Kane, 18-11.
The Ramettes grabbed a 3-0 lead in the top of first only to watch Kane score four in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-3 lead.
But Johnsonburg answered with five in second, one in the third and sixth in the fourth to go up 16-6 after 3 ½ innings.
The Lady Wolves came back with a four-spot in the bottom of the fourth to get within six, 16-10, before a two-run fifth made it 18-10 Ramettes. Kane then scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to set the final score.
Skylar Sherry and Lindsay Kocjancic each had three-hit games for Johnsonburg.
Sherry was 3-for-3 with a walk, two doubles, four runs scored and two RBIs, while Kocjancic was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, four RBIs and three runs scored.
Ashton Watts added a 2-for-5 performance with two RBIs and a run scored for the Ramettes with Kylee Wall going 1-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Hannah Park was also 2-for-5 with a double.
Rachel Morgan led Kane going 3-for-5 with a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored. Sadie Tunall chipped in by going 2-for-3 with two walks, two RBIs and two runs scored. Also for the Lady Wolves, Alexis Lima-Lopez went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, two runs scored and an RBI, and Ella Marconi was 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.
Nicole Myers got the win going five innings and allowing 10 runs, nine earned, on 11 hits and two walks while striking out five. Sherry finished off going two innings and allowing one run on four walks while striking out two.
Baylee Swanson took the loss for Kane.
Johnsonburg moves to 3-0 on the year with Kane falling to 0-3.
COUDERSPORT 10, OSWAYO VALLEY 2
COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Macy Gleason was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and four RBIs to lead Coudersport to a 10-2 win over visiting Oswayo Valley.
Four additional Lady Falcons had multiple-hit games led by Shaelyn Black going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Joplin Osgood was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Emma Rae Easton was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Emma Powell was 2-for-3.
Shayla Bickel led Oswayo Valley going 3-for-4, while Paige Smith was 2-for-2 with a double.
Katie Bertrand got the win going seven innings and allowing two runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out one.
Madison Nudd took the loss.
Coudersport is now 2-1 on the year, while Oswayo Valley falls to 1-2.
