BASEBALL
CLARION 5, BROOKVILLE 0
BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Clarion broke a scoreless tie in the top of the eighth inning and scored five unearned runs to beat Brookville 5-0.
The rally came right after the Bobcats snuffed out a Raiders suicide squeeze bunt attempt in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings. After scoring all the game’s runs in the top of the eighth, freshman left-hander Chase Kriebel finished off a combined 4-hitter with starter Skylar Rhoades.
Rhoades struck out five and allowed three walks and three hits before Kriebel went the final four innings to get the win, allowing just one hit with eight strikeouts and three walks.
Nate Datko went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI to lead the Bobcats. Lake Staub drove in a pair of runs and scored once while Breckin Rex, Cole Slaugenhoup and Noah Ditullio all added runs.
Aaron Park paced the Raiders with a pair of hits.
Chase Palmer started the game and allowed four hits and struck out two in four innings for Brookville. Jace Miner took the loss for Brookville and allowed one hit and struck out two in 3 ⅓ innings in relief duty.
CLARION-LIMESTONE 18, FOREST AREA 1, 3 INNINGS
MARIENVILLE, Pa. – Clarion-Limestone used an 11-run third inning to defeat Forest Area, 18-1 in three innings.
Hayden Callen led the Lions gong 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs while Camden Hankey went 2-for-4 and drove in four runs. Colby Himes and Curvin Goheen each added three runs.
Noah Burke tallied the lone hit and run for Forest.
Callen picked up the win for Clarion-Limestone with four strikeouts while allowing one hit.
Burke allowed four hits and seven runs in the loss for Forest.
BRADFORD 6, ST. MARYS 5
BRADFORD, Pa. – Patrick Caskey and Caleb Nuzzo combine to go 6-for-8 with four runs to lead Bradford to a 6-5 victory over visiting St. Marys.
Caskey and Nuzzo each went 3-for-4 with two runs a piece for the Owls with Peyton Manion and Greg Frederick each adding a run. Mitch Baker had a pair of hits and an RBI with Tyler Gigliotti chipping in for a hit.
Shane Price paced the Dutch going 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Jake Meeker went 2-for-4 and scored twice with Matt Bellina adding a pair of hits
Manion got the win for Bradford allowing nine hits and five runs.
Connor Bressler struck out two and allowed eight hits and five runs in the loss for St. Marys.
ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 10, BROCKWAY 0, 5 INNINGS
ST. MARYS, Pa. – Isaac Brock and Will Uberti each scored a pair of runs in Elk County Catholics 10-0, 5 inning victory over visiting Brockway.
Brock went 1-for-3 for the Crusaders with Uberti going 2-for-3 with a double. Alex Fedus had a pair of hits and a run scored while Tylor Herzing hit a double and scored once.
Zane Puhala and Tyler Serafini each picked up a hit for Brockway.
Brady Schneider got the win for ECC with six strikeouts and two allowed hits.
Serafini took the loss giving up seven hits and allowing five runs.
DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 10, JOHNSONBURG 1
DUBOIS, Pa. – DuBois Central Catholic scored 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth to defeat visiting Johnsonbug, 10-1.
Justin Miknis led the Cardinals with two runs and an RBI while Garrett Prosper went 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs. Cole Sansom hit a double on his way to a score and Damon Foster went 2-for-3 with a score and an RBI.
Zack Zameroski scored the lone run for the Rams while Paul Gresco added a pair of hits.
Sansom got the win for DCC striking out four and allowing six hits in five innings on the mound.
Gavin Elmquist allowed five hits and three runs while striking out six in the loss for Johnsonburg.
OTTO-ELDRED 15, OSWAYO VALLEY 0, 3 INNINGS
DUKES CENTER, Pa. – Jacob Merry went 2-for-3 and scored three times to help Otto-Eldred defeat visiting Oswayo Valley, 15-0 in three innings.
Tommy Vanscoter went 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBIs for the Terrors. Andrew Sheeler and Cole Sebastian each scored a pair of runs. Cameron Magee went 1-for-2 and scored twice and Trent Windson chipped in for two RBIs.
Chase Sebastian threw a three inning no-hitter and struck out four in the win for Otto-Eldred.
Noah Wichert took the loss for Oswayo Valley and allowed five hits and 10 runs while in 1 ⅓ inning on the mound. Sawyer Prince finished the game and allowed seven hits and five runs.
SOFTBALL
CLARION 8, BROOKVILLE 0
CLARION, Pa. – Kaitlyn Constantino threw a no-hitter and struck out 16 to help Clarion defeat Brookville, 8-0.
Constantino hit a triple and scored three runs for the Lady Cats with Carly Best and Brenna Campbell chipping in for a pair of runs. Jordan Best went 2-for-4 with two runs and a pair of RBIs.
Carlie McManigle took the loss for Brookville and allowed nine hits while striking out three.
DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 12, JOHNSONBURG 1, 5 INNINGS
JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Shayleigh Gulvas went 4-for-4 and scored twice and lead visiting Johnsonburg to a 12-1, 5 inning victory over Johnsonburg.
Carley Semancik went 2-for-3 and scored three runs with a pair of RBIs for the Lady Cardinals with Ashley Wruble adding a pair of runs and driving in three. Avery Sicktri went 3-for-3 and scored once and Chelsea Bussato had two RBIs.
Michaela Herzing paced the Ramettes going 2-for-2.
Wruble started the game striking out three and allowing two hits in three innings for DCC. Morgan Tyler earned the victory finishing the game with two strikeouts and one allowed hit.
Julie Peterson took the loss for Johnsonburg allowing four hits while striking out one in two innings. Maria Jones started the first three innings and gave up 11 hits and nine runs.
CAMERON COUNTY 8, GALETON 2
EMPORIUM, Pa. – Laila Smith’s grand slam in the bottom of the sixth lifted Cameron Counter over visiting Galeton, 8-2.
Smith went 2-for-4 with a double and drove in four runs to lead the Lady Red Raiders. Alyvia McKimm went 3-for-3 and scored a run with Kaitlyn Burgett adding a pair of runs. Taylor Lamont scored a run and drove in a run.
Jessie Evans had a pair of hits to pace the Lady Tigers. Katie Pagano and Cara Parsell scored the two runs.
Smith struck out 13 and allowed two hits in the win for Cameron County.
Regan Fuller took the loss for Galeton allowing 10 hits and eight runs while striking out nine.
ST. MARYS 11, BRADFORD 0, 5 INNINGS
ST. MARYS, Pa. – Tessa Grotzinger went 3-for-3 scoring three runs and driving in two to help St. Marys defeat visiting Bradford, 11-0 in five innings.
Maura Fledderman went 3-for-3 with a run for the Lady Dutch with Makenzie Gillen chipping in for two hits and a run. Brianna Grotzinger and Pete Schlimm each hit a double and Brittney Shaw scored twice.
For the Lady Owls, Adrienne Angell and Paige Craig each picked up a hit.
Fledderman got the win with nine strikeouts and two hits allowed for St. Marys.
Emily Warner struck out five and allowed five hits and five runs in three innings the loss for Bradford. Angell finished the game and allowed eight hits and six runs.
NORTH PENN-LIBERTY 2, COUDERSPORT 1, 8 INNINGS
COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Sara Swingell scored the winning run in the top of the eight and lifted visiting North Penn-Liberty over Coudersport, 2-1.
Jessica Kouba added a hit and a run for the Lady Mounties.
Paiton Whipple paced the Lady Falcons going 2-for-4 with the lone run scored. Shaelyn Black and Chelsey Streich each picked up a hit and Rosalyn Page tallied an RBI.
Savanah Doney picked up the win for North Penn-Liberty with 16 strikeouts and four allowed hits.
Black took the loss for Coudersport giving up four hits and two runs while striking out 14.
OTTO-ELDRED 12, OSWAYO VALLEY 2, 5 INNINGS
DUKES CENTER, Pa. – Otto-Eldred used a balanced scoring attack and defeated visiting Oswayo Valley, 12-2 in five innings.
Harlee VanScooter went 3-for-3 and drove in three runs for the Lady Terrors. Abby Wolfe went 3-for-3 and chipped in for an RBI.
Karina West paced Oswayo Valley with a triple and an RBI.
Wolfe struck out seven and allowed three hits in the win for Otto-Eldred.
West allowed four hits and stuck out five in the loss for Oswayo Valley. Macy West finished the game and allowed five hits while striking out four in relief.
ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 12, KANE 1, 5 INNINGS
ST. MARYS, Pa. – Sady VanAlstine went 3-for-3 with two runs and four RBIs to help Elk County Catholic defeat visiting Kane, 12-1 in five innings.
Jenna Weisner went 1-for-3 and scored twice while driving in two scores for the Lady Crusaders. Morgan Wolfe and Lauryn Dippold each had two runs scored with Michelle Gerber chipping in for three RBIs.
Ella Marconi scored the lone run for the Lady Wolves with Emma Ely picking up a hit.
Kathryn Krist started the first three innings allowing three hits and the lone run for ECC. Gerber picked up the win with one strikeout in the final two innings.
Rachel Danielson allowed 12 runs and five hits in the loss for Kane.
WILLIAMSPORT 13, PUNXSUTAWNEY 12
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Kathryn Meales sacrifice fly drove in Mariah Wright to help Williamsport defeat visiting Punxsutawney, 13-12.
Wright scored three runs to lead the Lady Millionaires with Kalindi Maggs and Nicole Benton chipping in for two runs a piece. Isabelle Griswold went 2-for-3 and scored twice while driving in three runs. Samantha Reeder added two runs and an RBI.
Elliott Ferrent paced the Lady Chucks going 4-for-4 including a triple and three runs scored while driving in two. Riley Presloid drove in four runs on a pair of hits. Grace Aikens went 3-for-4 and scored twice with Madison Stonbraker adding two runs.
Ferrent took the loss for Punxsutawney allowing 11 hits and 13 runs while striking out seven.
Kristen Smith earned the win late in the game for Williamsport allowing one while striking out one. Lynna Roberstson pitched the first 5 ⅓ innings and struck out six while allowing 11 hits and nine runs.
