Hetrick is a senior who plays volleyball and runs track for the Lady Lions. She is also the President and Founder of the Political Science Club, Red Cross Club President, Vice-President of the National Honors Society, Future Teachers of America (FTA) and volunteers for the school band. Her hobbies include reading, hiking, kayaking and watching Netflix. She is also employed at Bob’s Sub.
Future plans for Hetrick are to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and to eventually serve as a Naval officer on a guided-missile destroyer.
“My favorite school memory is the Veterans Day assembly when I was in ninth grade,” Hetrick said. “We had a very passionate Navy veteran speak to our school, and it is him I am indebted to for motivating me to become the person I am today.”
Hetrick also stated “being a senior with big ambitions, I feel like it’s my responsibility to motivate and inspire others in our area to achieve greatness and satisfaction. No matter anyone’s standings; physically, academically, or any adversity one is able to still accomplish and experience unfathomable opportunities. Never let anyone tell you your goals are unimportant. It takes one action to make a huge difference in the world or one person’s life.”
As the Student-Athlete of the Month, Hetrick received gift certificates to both DE Sports, Inc. and The Pizza Pub, who are sponsors of the program.
