HERSHEY — Ridgway senior Rachel Guyer’s eighth-place finish in Class A girls and four top-25 medalists in Class A boys highlighted District 9’s day at Saturday’s PIAA Cross Country Championships.
Guyer crossed the line in 19:40, just three seconds behind fourth-place finisher MacKenzie Greenfield of Holy Cross. Vincention sophomore Marianne Abdalah won the race in 18:35.
North Clarion’s Kayce Bobnar was 42nd in 20:48 and D9 champion Victoria Dippold was 58th in 21:10.
Team-wise, North Clarion finished 12th and ECC 14th in the 19-team race.
In Class A boys, Coudersport junior Devan Cavanaugh was 14th in 16:57 to lead a D9 foursome to a medal finish. D9 champion Liam Raehsler was 16th in 17:01, Northern Potter’s Tim Adams was 20th in 17:04 and North Clarion’s Isaac Wilson finished 22nd in 17:07.
Cranberry and ECC were 12th and 13th respectively in the team standings.
In Class AA, D9 boys’ champion Punxsutawney finished 18th out of 19 teams. The top D9 finisher was Punxsutawney’s Bo Dinger in 64th place in 17:27.
In Class AA girls, St. Marys’ Amanda Foster was 72nd in 20:42. D9 champion Bradford finished 16th out of 18 teams.
In Class AAA girls, District 9-10 champion DuBois was 17th out of 19 teams. Payton McAninch was the top finisher for the Lady Beavers in 124th place in 20:30.
