DCC’s Frank Named PA High School Softball Assocation Class A Player of the Year

DuBois Central Catholic junior catcher Jordy Frank is the Pennsylvania High School Softball Association Class A Pennsylvania Player of the Year.

Frank is joined on the all-state teams by 12 additional District 9 players including seven on the Class A team and five on the Class AA team.

That group includes seven additional first-team selections (four in Class A and three in Class AA) with all the first-team choices coming from either DCC or Moniteau.

Joining Frank on the Class A first team are teammates Riley Assalone (Pitcher), Ashley Wruble (second baseman), Stephanie Rossi (third baseman) and Macey Hanes.

The three Moniteau players to earn Class AA first-team honors are Kennedy DeMatteis (pitcher), Cortney Claypoole (shortstop) and Gabby Stewart (outfielder). Two other Lady Warriors earned all-state nods with Sara Hull garnering second-team first base accolades and catcher Kristina DeMatteis earning an Honorable Mention nod at catcher.

In Class A, Clarion added three all-state award winners with Keanna Over getting the nod as a second-team shortstop, Anna Reed earning Honorable Mention second baseman honors and Maya Thornton picking up an Honorable Mention in the outfield.

Frank hit .667 with an OPS of 2.092 this year for the District 9 Class A champion Lady Cardinals, who advanced to the PIAA Semifinals. she had 12 home runs, 11 doubles, 10 triples and 42 RBIs while scoring 65 runs.

Over 200 high school coaches and 160 sportswriters were part of the nominating process for all-state softball.
