Dec. 17, 2018 Boys’ Recaps: St. Marys Edges Warren; Ridgway Rolls Past Eisenhower

ST. MARYS 42, WARREN 40

WARREN, Pa. – Using a balanced offensive effort visiting St. Marys knocked off Warren, 42-40.

Anthony Cortina, whose two free throws with 47 seconds left to break a 40-all tie, led the Dutch with 10 points. Nick Catalone added nine points for St. Marys with Mitchell Reiter adding eight points.

Caleb Ei led Warren with 21 points.

With the game tied at 37 with two minutes to play, Jacob Wilson hit a 3-pointer to put St. Marys ahead, 40-37.

But Jake Kupchella tied the game at 40 when ht nailed a triple of the Dragons with 1:12 to play.

Cortina was then fouled and went to the line with a one-and-one and hit both.

Warren had a pair of chances to tie or win the game late.

First, Griffin Suppa missed a 3-pointer with 15 seconds to play with the ball going out bounds to Warren. But Aiden Morrison stole the inbounds pass, and Suppa had a chance to win the game but his runner at the horn was short.

RIDGWAY 60, EISENHOWER 12

RIDGWAY, Pa. – Matt Dush and Will Thompson each scored 15 points to help Ridgway cruise past visiting Eisenhower, 60-12.

Zack Zameroski added 10 points for the Elkers, while Jake Reynolds, who had a dunk in the game, added eight.

CAMERON COUNTY 68, NORTHERN POTTER 30

ULYSSES, Pa. – Jake Walters led a trio of Cameron County players in double digits to lead visiting Cameron County to a 68-30 NTL win over Northern Potter.

Marcus Brown added 12 points for the Red Raiders with Caden Beldin chipping in 11 points. Also for Cameron County Ty Bauer and Damien Erickson each scoring nine points.

Ryan Langworthy and Ezra Sprow each scored six points for Northern Potter.

PORT ALLEGANY 88, OSWAYO VALLEY 34

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – AJ Edgell scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Port Allegany to an 88-34 win over visiting Oswayo Valley in NTL action.

Howie Stuckey scored a game-high 26 points for the Gators as well with Jordan Card chipping in 17 tallies.

Michael Welch paced Oswayo Valley with 12 points.

COUDERSPORT 75, GALETON 41

GALETON, Pa. – Owen Chambers scored 26 points and Travis Gleason had a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds to help Coudersport pick up a 75-41 road NTL win over Galeton.

Hayden Keck also added 16 points for the Falcons.

Evan Brooks scored 18 points to lead Galeton.

SMETHPORT 50, AUSTIN 38

AUSTIN, Pa. – A fast start helped visiting Smethport beat Austin, 50-38, in NTL action.

The Hubbers led 15-4 at the end of the first quarter and 31-11 at halftime before being outscored 27-19 in the second half including 11-2 in the third quarter.

Caleb Lutz led Smethport with 17 points, including eight in the first quarter, with Eric Szarowicz adding 16 points.

Dempsey Glover had 13 points for Austin with Blake Burgett chipping in eight.

CLEARFIELD 64, PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA 47

PHILLIPSBURG, Pa. – Behind a big game from Cade Walker visiting Clearfield picked up a 64-47 win over Philipsburg-Osceola in Mountain League action.

Walker had 24 points, five rebounds and three steals for the Bison. Also for Clearfield, Karson Rumsky added 16 points and six steals and Keagan Hess had 10 points.

Caron Jones and Tyler Doyle each scored 12 points for Philipsburg-Osceola.

OTTO-ELDRED 72, SHEFFIELD 48

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Paced by 18 points from Cameron Grigsby, Otto-Eldred had four players score in double figures in a 72-48 win over visiting Sheffield.

Andrew Sheeler added 16 points for the Terrors with Cole Sebastian scoring 11 and Gavin Jimerson 10.

Jakob Vinopal led Sheffield with 18 points with Walker Kyler adding eight tallies.

PENNS MANOR 66, CURWENSVILLE 53

CLYMER, Pa. – Garrett Grimaldi and Tommy Hamilton combined for 35 points to lead Penns Manor to a 66-53 win over visiting Curwensville.

Grimaldi had a team-best 20 points with Hamilton adding 15. Brandon Baird also chipped in 14 points in the victory.

Christian Bakaysa netted a game-high 22 points for Curwensville with Avery Francisco adding 12 tallies and Dakota Bloom 11.
