BOYS

Brockway 64, Brookville 45

DUBOIS, Pa. – Carter Adams scored nine of his 13 points in the second quarter helping Brockway overcome a four-point deficit heading into the quarter on its way to a 64-45 win over Brookville in the opening round of the DuBois Holiday Tournament.

The Rovers trailed 14-10 after a quarter but outscored Brookville 43-23 over the next two frames including 20-9 in the second quarter.

Jarrett Esposito also scored 13 points for Brockway, while Aaron Park led all scorers with 14 tallies for the Raiders. Bryan Dworek and Ben Reitz each chipped in seven points for Brookville.

Brockway will take on DuBois in the title game at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday while Brookville faces DuBois Central Catholic at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the consolation contest.

DUBOIS 62, DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 56

DUBOIS, Pa. – Nick LaBrasca exploded for 29 points and 14 rebounds, as DuBois held off crosstown rival DuBois Central Catholic, 62-56, in the opening round of the DuBois Holiday Tournament.

The host Beavers led 28-19 at halftime but watched as DCC, behind seven points from Noah Pettenati cut the lead to three, 42-39, going into the fourth quarter. But LaBrasca scored eight points, and Kyle Hopson added five, the only five he scored, in the final eight minutes to help DuBois secure the victory.

Kenny Garvey added 14 points for DuBois, while Austen Cogley paced DCC with 21 points. Pettenati added 13 for the Cardinals with Justin Miknis chipping in 12.

DuBois plays Brockway in the title game at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday with DCC facing Brookville in the consolation game at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

SMETHPORT 27, GALETON 23

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Caleb Lutz scored seven of his game-high 13 points in the third quarter helping Smethport rally past Galeton, 27-23, in the opening round of the Port Allegany Christmas Tournament.

The Hubbers trailed 12-7 at halftime after being shutout in the second quarter but behind Lutz outscored Galeton 13-6 in the third quarter to take a 20-18 lead.

Brayden Southard added eight points for Smethport with Isiah Shuemaker leading Galeton with 10 points.

Smethport faces Port Allegany in the title game at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday with Galeton taking on Austin in the consolation contest at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

PORT ALLEGANY 60, AUSTIN 43

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – In a contest that doubled as a North Tier League game, Brandon McCaslin and Howie Stuckey both had strong first quarters to lead Port Allegany to a 60-43 win over visiting Austin in the opening round of the Port Allegany Christmas Tournament.

McCaslin scored seven of his game-high 21 points in the opening quarter, while Stuckey added eight of his 19 tallies in the frame helping the Gators jump out to a 23-12 lead after eight minutes.

Mason Valenti led Austin with 12 points, while Brian Shupe added 10 rebounds.

Port takes on Smethport in the championship game at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday with Austin battling Galeton in the consolation game at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

GIRLS

Galeton 55, Smethport 44

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Cortney Parsell scored 27 points to lead Galeton to a come-from-behind 55-44 win over Smethport in the opening round of the Port Allegany Christmas Tournament.

Makaya Shadle added 13 points for the Lady Tigers, who outscored Smethport 21-4 in the third quarter to erase a 31-16 halftime deficit.

Abbey Woodard paced Smethport with 14 points, while Emily Treat added 13.

Galeton faces Port Allegany in the title game at 6 p.m. Tuesday while Smethport faces Austin in the consolation game at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Port Allegany 60, Austin 10

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Autumn Buchsenschutz scored 13 points and added seven steals to help Port Allegany topple Austin, 60-10, in the opening round of the Port Allegany Christmas Tournament that also doubled as an NTL game.

Erin Stauffer chipped in eight points and seven steals for the Lady Gators with Carley Barnett chipped in 12 points and Brianna Roys four points and nine rebounds.

Jordan Brewer scored six points to pace Austin.

Port Allegany takes on Galeton in the 6 p.m. title game Tuesday while Austin faces Smethport in the 3 p.m. consolation game Tuesday.
