PORT ALLEGANY 59, AUSTIN 35

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Tre Garzel had 29 points and 15 rebounds to lead Port Allegany to a 59-35 win over Austin in the opening round of the Port Allegany Christmas Tournament Saturday.

Twenty of Garzel’s points came in the first half including 11 in the first quarter helping Port Allegany to a 35-24 halftime lead.

Jordan Seefelt added 13 points for the Gators, who also picked up a North Tier League win with the victory.

Anderson Nicka led Austin with nine points, all in the first half, and 13 rebounds while Drew Simms chipped in with seven.

Port Allegany will take on Galeton in the title game of the tournament at 7:30 p.m. Monday, while Austin will face Smethport in the consolation game t 4:30 p.m. Monday.

GIRLS

SMETHPORT 53, GALETON 38

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Abbey Woodard led a contingent of four Smethport players in double digits with 17 points, as the Lady Hubbers knocked off Galeton, 53-38, in the opening round of the Port Allegany Christmas Tournament Saturday afternoon.

Katie Treat added 15 points with Addysin Gross-Benjamin and Emily Treat each chipping in 10 tallies for Smethport, which led by just eight, 26-18, at halftime before outscoring Galeton 29-20 in the second half.

Makaya Shadle paced Galeton with 12 points and Cortney Parsell added 10.

Smethport will take on host Port Allegany in the title game of the tournament at 6 p.m. Monday with Galeton facing Austin in the consolation game at 3 p.m. Monday.

PORT ALLEGANY 48, AUSTIN 0 

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Autumn Buchsenschutz scored 17 points to go with five assists and four steals to lead host Port Allegany to a 48-0 win over Austin in the opening round of the Port Allegany Christmas Tournament Saturday.

Hannah Lathtrop added 11 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Gators, who led 34-0 at the break.

The victory also counts as a North Tier League win for Port Allegany, who will face Smethport in the title game of the tournament at 6 p.m. Monday. Austin will take on Galeton in Monday’s 3 p.m. consolation game.
