ECC girls capture third place in D9 Class A

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Elk County Catholic raced out to an 11-point halftime lead and never looked back gaining a 61-45 win over Cameron County in the District 9 Class A girls’ consolation game Friday night at St. Marys High School.

The Lady Crusaders (26-1) rebounded from their first loss of the season to Venango Catholic in the semifinals Tuesday by scoring 24 second-quarter points.

ECC led 37-26 at halftime.

Macy Neureiter led the Lady Crusaders with 12 points, while Julia Sweeney added 10, Erin Petrosky eight and Reilly Herzing and Cassidy Cunningham seven each.

Susie Guisto led Cameron County (15-10) with 16 points, while Madi Guisto added 13.

Both team advance to the PIAA playoffs.

ECC will play the District 10 champion, which will be either Kennedy Catholic or Cochranton March 7 at a District 10 site and time to be announced, while Cameron County will take on the District 6 champion Blairsville March 7 at a District 6 site and time to be announced.
