ECC Girls win fourth straight AML championship

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Julia Sweeney and Maci Neureiter combined to score 21 points to lead Elk County Catholic to its fourth straight AML Title with a 49-30 win over DuBois Central Catholic in the league title game Saturday night at St. Marys High School.

Sweeney netted a team-high 11 points, while Neureiter scored 10 to help the Lady Crusaders to their eighth league-title game win in the 10 years the game has been played (ECC lost in the championship game in the other two seasons).

ECC used an 11-3 second-quarter advantage to take a 22-10 halftime lead and then led 30-18 at the end of three quarters.

Erin Petrosky added eight points and Kirstie Wehler seven for the Lady Crusaders.

Gabby Caruso led all scorers with 14 points for DCC, while Jordan Frank added eight. But leading scorer Riley Assalone was held off the board by ECC.
