WINGATE, Pa. — Despite giving up two forfeits and falling behind 32-9 at one point, the Clearfield Bison wrestlers made a run at the Bald Eagle Area Eagles, but eventually fell short in a 36-30 final.

The Bison won six of the 11 contested matches, four of them by fall, but just weren’t able to overcome those two forfeits at 113 and 120 to pick up their eighth dual meet win, instead falling to 7-3 on the season.
Oliver Billotte (9-1) got the Bison off to a 6-0 start with a 38 second fall over Nathan Antonuccio at 285, but the hosts came storming back with a fall at 106 to even the score, the had an 18-6 lead after the forfeits at 113 and 120.
That lead was 24-6 when, at 126, Cooper Gilham handed Nolan Barr (9-1) his first loss of the season.
Luke Freeland (2-1) momentarily stopped the Eagle momentum with a 6-2 win over Drake Holderman at 132.
Two major decisions at 138 and 145 gave BEA their biggest lead of the night at 32-9.
The Bison then won four out of the last five matches to close the final gap to only six points.
At 152, Wyatt Reorda evened his season record at 5-5 with a second period fall over Grace Stem.
Karson Kline (9-1) eked out a 3-1 win at 160 over Cameron Dubbs to set the score at 32-18.
However, a major decision at 172 by the Eagles assured the loss for the Bison.
Mark McGonigal (8-2) at 189 and Hayden Kovalick (6-2) at 215 both earned pins, setting the final at 36-30.
The Bison are next scheduled to do a quad meet at Hollidaysburg High School on Saturday.
